Party Info:	This is the second annual World Fark Party in Las Vegas Nevada. The event will include Drew and many of the Fark staff as well as Farkers from all over the United States and possibly the world. Thursday (3/29) night will be a pre-event Pub Crawl on the Vegas strip starting at 6PM and will go as follows: - Treasure Island: Breeze Bar - Mirage: Rhumbar - Caesars: La Salsa - Paris: the sports bar in the back - Treasure Island: Breeze Bar Watch the Twitter hashtag #farklv2012 for updates. Friday night (3/30) will be the main event in the Treasure Island ballroom from 6PM - 10PM. This includes all entertainment and a catered dinner, which will be a fully staffed buffet with several stations serving caesar salad, baby mozzarella and tomato salad, antipasto salad with roasted peppers, artichokes and grilled asparagus, cheese tortellini, tomato cream sauce and spinach, parmesan style stuffed chicken, Italian sausage with peppers and onions, garlic bread, parmesan breadsticks and focaccia, hearth baked breads, assorted biscotti, cannoli, Italian rum cakes and tiramisu, fresh brewed coffee, decaffeinated coffee, iced and international hot teas. The cost for Friday night is $75 in advance or $100 at the door. The link for registration is here: Vegas Fark Party 2012. Space is limited, and the link will close as soon as we hit the maximum. A PARTIAL list of guests this year include: - Burnie Burns (Red vs. Blue) - Mike "Nug" Nahrgang, an actor and comedian that you probably know better as "Mustard Man" - Mike Phirman (Hard 'n Phirm) - and the finale will be the music of Paul and Storm. After the Friday night event, there'll be karaoke at Imperial Palace There will be a poker tournament on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm in the Treasure Island poker room, and several informal events on Saturday evening, including a pub quiz challenge in the evening (location TBD). Both Friday and Saturday during the day from 10am - 5pm, we'll have a ~~cabana~~ Farkabana poolside at Treasure Island. It includes fruit plate along with water and soft drinks, seating for up to 10 people, LCD TV, refrigerator, ceiling fans, deluxe lounge chairs, day beds and ~~cabana~~ Farkabana host. It should be fairly easy to spot the Fark group. We have a rate of $139 per night (flat, no Resort Fee) at Treasure Island. The annual poker tourney is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Exact time and place to be determined. Buy in will be $65. Last year we had 55 players. First and second places each got nearly $1000. When I say 'unsuspecting' I mean that the bar will have been warned that 300 weirdos are about to arrive but, how can anybody truly prepare for 300 Farkers?

The things i've learned about this bunch of weirdos is that there is a place for everyone. I'm sure weird crap happens at some get togethers, but the two I've had the pure pleasure of attending, plus meeting other farkers individually, has been a great experience. All kinds of different people, the wallflowers, the maniacs, the social butterflies, the people that sit in the corner texting the whole time... There's room for everyone and everyone is made to feel welcome.

For those of you unsure; If you have an opportunity to attend and if you are at all curious, you should try to be there. It's not like you wont find SOMETHING to do in Vegas if farkers dont float your boat. At a minimum, you won't read all the great things the Monday after and wish like hell you'd given it a shot. I'd rather take a chance and be disappointed then regret missing the opportunity I had to meet new people and make new friends.

I'd say it's in the middle, toward the upper side of middle. We're actually going to stay at Treasure Island this year. Usually I stay at the Rio, but I decided there is a large value to being able to stumble upstairs to pass out. (sorry nopokerface)

I've stayed at several hotels there and the TI is fine. The best part is that it's awfully convenient to all the drunken activities planned (the pub crawl Thursday, Con on Friday and poker tourney on Saturday), so you'll save cab fares and valuable stumbling-around-trying-to-find-your-way-back-to-your-hotel time.

What's cool about using the con rate is that you can opt-out of the Resort Fee which other places make non-optional. Just remember to tell them if you want to Opt-Out of the $20/day Resort Fee and check your bill when you leave, like the wonderful Mr. Meat advised above.

When I ask, "is it a nice place to stay," I don't mean just the rooms. Are the restaurants good and are they not overcrowded? Is half the main floor undergoing reconstruction at any one time? Is the poolside bar fast and attentive? That sort of thing. I fully well know the benefit of getting a room at the host hotel.

Then there was the "Glen Lerner iPhone App" where a 911 operator was telling collision callers that that's all they need and everything will be fine.

In the competition world there is "Kansas City Style", "Memphis Style" and "Texas Style". Kansas City is by far the largest organization, but who doesn't like sweet sauce on smoky meats! The contest kicks off Thursday, Judging (what I do) and awards are Saturday afternoon. Vendors will have stuff the whole time to hand out. If you walk the cooks area and are cool (and beer helps), you should be able to eat more meat than humanly possible. They finish up cooking on Saturday morning (they will cook all day Friday and thru the night till Saturday), that would be the best time to walk the cooks area as they are tired and tipsy from drinking all day/ night. While some cook teams are hard core and do it for a living, most are just a group of buddys that are doing a 3 day tailgate.

Well, I had a long writeup, but somehow I managed to End-User it into oblivion, so I'm gonna hit this with a few bullet points:

- If you wanna stay at TI, the deadline to register is Tuesday. After that, you'd be paying their "rack rate" which in all likelihood will be higher than the Fark rate
- The event is Friday, and will run from 4PM until 8PM. Don't forget to register here: Vegas Fark Party 2012. Over 20 people started registrations but didn't finish them. Go check to see that yours is done if you started one before.
- Guests on Friday will include Burnie Burns (Red vs. Blue), Mike "Nug" Nahrgang--known by most of you as "Mustard Man", Mike Phirman (Hard & Phirm), Tucker Max, and Paul and Storm will be the finale since they absolutely killed it last year. Our own aquigley has agreed to emcee the event. There are a couple more guests that we're chasing, but these are confirmed.
- Thursday night will be the pub crawl for everybody that's in town early
- Saturday (late morning or very early afternoon, I believe) will be the Fark-only Poker Tournament in the TI Poker Room again, and Saturday night will be a Pub Trivia Quiz night at a local drinking establishment. There are also a couple side-trips that are being self-organized by farkers, including a trip to the pinball museum and the gun store/gun range.

Can't wait to hang out with you magnificent bastards again.

Fark has scheduled a private poker tourney for all Farkers, spouses and friends, 2:30 pm Saturday March 31 at the intimate and non-smoking card
room at Treasure Island. No Limit Texas Hold'em. The buy in will be $65. Also included are
free beginner's lessons starting at 1:30, depending upon interest. Just show up. This is to encourage partners to join in the fun and learn a little bit about poker in a relaxed atmosphere. The tourney will finish at about 5:30.

The card room manager is very cool, as are the dealers. He's agreed to let the event be MC'ed with gag gifts awarded, etc., etc. This will be
more of a party than a poker game, so whatever your level of experience, show up and play. If you spent the afternoon
playing blackjack you could drop $1K, easy. Here you risk $65 and get a party, with free drinks, and a chance at a big jackpot.

We had many beginners last year and they all had a great time. First and second places (syrynxx and aquigley) paid almost $1000 each and third place (Paul of Paul and Storm) paid nearly $500. Syrynxx can't attend this year so the coveted perpetual trophy is up for grabs.

I would say that the poker tournament was a great way to meet people. I remember so many Farkers only because I played against them. SgtCyanide is great, and PrettyWarrior made it to the final table. Remember to bet your cards half the time; bet the people the other half. Poker is a great game.

I will be out there that weekend for my bachelor party, and these Friday night festivities would definitely add something nice to the whole shebang.

It's the dinner and the entertainment. As far as dinner+show goes in Vegas, it's the best deal on the strip by far.

I might have a free airline ticket for someone who otherwise wouldn't be going. Caveats: It's southwest, there's blackout times. And it's southwest.

I have a couple people I'm offering the ticket to first, but if they decline I'll open it up here. To qualify, you have to not be going and be flexible in when you go, since I have no control over that. And you probably will have to buy me a drink, since I have to pay the 10 dollar security fee for the ticket. I'll post more in a day or two if it opens up.

I'd never been to Vegas so I brought suits because I thought everyone would be all Rat Pack and swanky and shiate and didn't bother wearing them, it's fooking hot down there. It's a lot more casual than I expected. Wear whatever you're confortable in.

yeah, i think people spent more time in poolside attire than anything swanky. Some of the ladies wore dresses at the night events and there was one person in a tux (you know who you are). Vegas is one of those places where you can wear burmuda shorts and a tshirt all the time or you can dress to the nines depending on where you're gonna be hanging out. I'm not really sure Bahama Breeze (or whatever the heck that bar in TI was called) has that "money, baby" kinda vibe, iykwim.
