A couple of slam-dunk Headline of the Year contenders in this batch. Parts of Emir could be one of the finalists, and #1/#2 could very well be a strong contender in the Context category.

Officials say he just kept jumping in front of the horsie every time it came around until it worked  ISIS "emir of suicide bombings" killed in airstrike. Was identified by parts of emir, and parts of emir, and parts of emir  Expert with Sakhalin Research Institute of Fisheries says giant creature with beak and fur is a dolphin. Also says you are Brad Pitt, or Kate Middleton, or a flying trout lizard

Sports:  British man wins Toe Wrestling Championship for 12th time. Here's the digital footage  WSoP Ji?  The last time America beat Germany this badly, we passed the Marshall Plan to repair the devastation we left behind

Geek:  Australian engineer designs a robot that can build a house in two days. Although it still can't touch the record of putting up bricks over 48 minutes held by DeAndre Jordan  Facebook's Zuckerberg says you'll be able to share emotions virtually "one day" ... and yep, he's talking about telepathy. Up next, buying out a Vegas hotel and growing a really long beard  A hot, dusty, cluster of stars discovered. Somebody tell them where the Playboy Grotto can be found

Entertainment:  No  It took her 44 years, but Sonia Manzano is leaving Sesame Street. Hopefully she'll come back for Bert & Ernie's wedding  Christopher Reeve's daughter names newborn son after her father. Little Kal-El Superman Reeve is said to be doing fine

Politics:  Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is gaining in popularity but is still unknown to black voters. At least outside of the three black families who actually still live in Vermont  "Bernie's Big Crowd Strategy" Bern Tzu say: 'if cannot win on coin, overwhelm them in zerg rush'  The Supreme Court's gay marriage ruling will be used by a group of conservative fanatics as an excuse to attack America, and some of them aren't even running for the GOP nomination

Business:  Starbucks researching a way to overcome their crippling dearth of store locations  With the stroke of a pen, the United States moves one step closer to a single payer healthcare system  Why is BP paying $18.7 billion? Because it's the least they could do. And never let it be said that BP didn't do the least they could do

Proud to have one of last week's awardees, but the emir and #1/#2 ones made me lose my shiat. And the single-payer one similarly made me groan.
