Note to self:
Do not buy tickets for "You're in trouble" starring Donnie Trump in this 4D theater.

A 4D fart-joke will probably induce PTSD for a lot of folks.

About 10 years ago in Las Vegas I remember watching a 3D Star Trek short that included puffs of air in the face (very jolting the first time it happened -- lots of "yipes" in the audience) and seat rumblings and manipulations.  It was a very entertaining 10 minutes or so.

A year or so later the entire Star Trek themed section of that hotel was dismantled.

I was going to see the new 1D movie, but the line was too long.

Yeah, I'll pass on a theater that sprays you with water and perfume.

Seat rumblings and manipulations are a regular feature in the theaters I frequent.

Sounds similar to Soaring over California in Disney's CA adventure.   The effects there actually work OK in combination with the fact that you are suspended in front of a very large screen with your feet dangling.

But it'd better be a lot better than a D-Box seat, I felt that was a waste of money the one time I tried it.

This was fine when it was with the kids for 15-minute animated shorts in the theater at LEGOland in Somerville, but there's no way I'd want to replicate the experience for normal theatrical releases. Got wet and cold...

Oh I do hope it's like the World of Coke, wherein a metal spike painfully jabs you square in the spine to simulate a "bee sting"

Yea definitely worth the extra $10/ticket or whatever *eyeroll*

I hope for your local theater's sake they don't waste their money on this flavor of the month gimmick.

Probably a good idea to avoid eating at Taco Bell before going to the theater.

I think they're confusing "Dimensions" with "Senses".

That said, I'm going to skip the 4D version of Trainspotting.

We have these over here in the UK, and they look bloody ridiculous. At the moment there's only a few cinemas that have them, and it's actually only a few chairs near the front of a whole auditorium of normal seats, full of people just trying to watch the movie while some idiots get thrown around in front of you in noisy, moving seats that are nothing but a distraction to everyone else.

Cineworld have this notion that they're at the forefront of cinema-going innovation, which used to include getting one poor member of staff to come in during the trailers and make like a chat show host, telling everyone about upcoming movies, which we wo;uld have found out about by watching the trailers anyway.

Seriously, they haven't got a clue. people want to go to the movies to watch a movie and get annoyed by the twat eating nachos in the third row.

My first thought with the water was that mold growth in the theater seats is going to become a problem.

Me too, I thought it was a lot of fun, that doesn't mean it works for a whole movie.

Assuming the 4th dimension is time, movies are already in 4D.  They have been since 3D become common.  Movies have always existed in dimensions 1, 2 and 4, but not 3.  By adding the third dimension, they become 4D.

2018-04-24 07:18:45 PM
I saw 4D already in 1970 and 2035.
It was the same both times.

2018-04-24 07:20:52 PM
All movies are projected in the 4rth dimension. Just in one direction though. And if you watch the director's cut they're usually projected even further along the 4rth dimension.

"Twat eating nachos" or "Twat-eating nachos"?

This is why I go to the crappy movie theater.  You can show up 15 mins before the most popular movie, sit anywhere you want, BYOB, and tickets are like 9 dollars instead of 22.  The food they serve at the fancy ones is gross, too.  Popcorn and candy are good everywhere.

I've always wanted arcade games that do this. Movies not so much

We have a chain theater that has $4 matinees that start at 11 am - 1 pm I believe.  If you dont mind a movie that early it is great.  I think the concessions sans beer are open.  Frankly I dont know why they would even bother to open the theater that early.

The 4th dimension is time. What are they going to do? The time component was already covered in the movies run length.

I guess going to the theater 1 or 2 times a year was too much for the industry to handle.

Stuff like this will get that number down to 0.

Actually it's closer to the Simpson's ride at Universal. It's fun for a bit but I wouldn't sit through 2 hours of it.
