"mainstream Americans"

2018-04-24 12:53:13 PM
What is Mainstream Americans? If it is who I think it is, they are already well represented by Trump and the GOP

Honestly, the with decline of education and rise of poverty across the US, and the increasing number of States passing laws to lock up poor people I suspect things are going to look very different in the years ahead

But don't ever think that America won't be number 1, keep shouting that loudly for everyone to hear

Yes. The 40 million people who live in CA represent the fringe.

If you're looking for the mainstream, you want to look at states like Wyoming with a population smaller than Fresno.

Dusk-You-n-Me: "mainstream Americans"

yes, like Wyoming!

Wyoming isn't even a real place. It's Latin for "No State Here."

2018-04-24 12:56:44 PM
California is mainstream. Mississippi, Alabama, and the rest of shiathole America are not, unfortunately, we give more weight to empty land than actual people.

2018-04-24 12:57:20 PM
Given the choice between conservative and liberal policies, Americans overwhelmingly support the latter, nearly across the board.

2018-04-24 12:57:25 PM
Indeed, sh-t generally floats down the middle of the creek.

How much did trump have in common with the common man?

Short answer: 0, but he was able to pretend really well.

2018-04-24 01:07:14 PM
Right. The millions of multi-ethnic, polyglottal people living in cities aren't the mainstream. Gotcha.

2018-04-24 01:07:27 PM
lol shut up subby, "mainstream america" couldn't wipe it's own ass without us

2018-04-24 01:07:40 PM
I wonder how come we haven't heard the GOP rail on California's economy in the past half decade or so?

Maybe Cali politicians actually know what they are doing.

This. Mainstream IS urban and coastal. Your alt righties, deplorables, and other such Trumpetists come from OTHER places for the most part, with a few exceptions here and there (Cranston RI being one of them)

The problem is that even in California things aren't so peachy.  Aside from the Russian funding to get the state to leave the US theres now how many initiatives to break the state into three parts as people in different parts of the state don't at all see eye to eye.

2018-04-24 01:10:28 PM
This is an excellent strategy.  This will almost guarantee the dems all of 55 of CAs electoral votes.

2018-04-24 01:10:41 PM
Yes, because the thrice married, philandering, "billionaire" playboy real estate "mogul" is completely in tune with mainstream America, to the tune of -3000000 votes or so...

Considering that California represents one-eighth of the total US population and one-seventh of the GDP of the US, I would think it is safe to suggest that California is mainstream America.  If no mainstream America, California is damn well the stream bed that the mainstream flows through.

America would be wise to listen to what comes from California every now and then vs listening to what comes from elsewhere.

2018-04-24 01:11:06 PM
Most people think that they are mainstream. Almost nobody actually is. The only thing that matters is finding and winning 270 electoral votes. Everything else is just noise.

Hi, I'M ERIC.

I like our Mayor, he seems to give a shiat about the city and helping our homeless problem.   If he ran again, I'd vote for him again.
But...you know who his father is, right?    His Dad was practically blamed for losing the OJ case.   I fully expect that to be used against Eric.

2018-04-24 01:11:59 PM
You're right. Let's continue to hold our governance to meet the lofty standards of the toothless copper thief who blames Obama for his not holding a job for longer than two months.

2018-04-24 01:12:25 PM
They represent America as much as some god fearing farmer in a fly over state claiming to represent America.

2018-04-24 01:12:25 PM
Sorry, Trumpmitter, your boy is going to prison. And he's not mainstream; he's supported by a racist minority of Americans that is admittedly far too large at around 25-30 percent, but it is still a minority.

This quote resonates with me in this time more than it ever did since I first heard it in Ken Burns' documentary. It seems we are coming full circle again.

Well, he is unsophisticated, fat, and stupid, so it wasn't very difficult for him to pull off.

All that's just bullshiat noise, you know that, right? Those ballot initiatives are also Russian-backed and right-wing backed for the purposes of setting Californians against each other.

Yeah but, realistically, they don't have a chance at passing.
Things ARE good here, relatively speaking.   Our housing and homeless problems suck ass, but our economy is strong, our social services are in tact, and our teachers aren't striking for lack of funding.

Hey we hear no end to how an old socialist from Vermont would have won (and he might have), so what exactly is "mainstream"?

2018-04-24 01:13:08 PM
What the fark does "mainstream Americans" mean, submitter? REAL Americans? Is that what you're going for here?

And what's with the dumb metaphor "in tune"? How old are you, 65?

Go back to sleep, grampa. We'll let you know when it's time for supper.

This is terrible! we need another Real American candidate who goes to the right church and will protect my right to pray to Jesus, protect my right to buy guns and do the important stuff, like let business operate freely without any regulation that could slow them down.

Cut taxes, so revenues go up and we can have an even stronger military.

I guess if I was to think of something as mainstream it might be where nearly 70% of the population producing some 85% of all economic activity in the country live. It isn't Jeb in Podunk, Kansas growing wheat and sorghum on his 500 acre hobby farm.

With all the transplants in Austin/Dallas/Houston now from California, I'm fine saying they're mainstream.

And I welcome them. Just remember to register to vote in TX plz thanks

Actually, not all of the 40M Californians are nutters. The nutters primarily live in the SF and LA areas. Outside of those areas, it's pretty conservative. Remember that Prop 8 that banned gay marriage in CA PASSED.

The nutters primarily live where people live.  The REAL people live where nobody lives.

2018-04-24 01:19:32 PM
Subby is sadly correct.  Until the forward-thinking that is prevalent in California becomes the mainstream, it could be problematic trying to run for the White House from here, unless the candidate eschews such thought and embraces the backwards-looking race-baiting, "let's gall-durn make things how they was in the 50s" group think of the GOP.

Mainstream opinion is still about the most ignorant opinion one could ever get.

SF and LA regions have a combined 20 million residents. I promise there are not 20 million nutters in those areas. These areas are huge economic powerhouses.

Where do you get your information about California, anyway?
