Screw that place.  They ruined one of my shirts when grease from one of their tasty tacos dripped down the front.

If you don't have reservations you shouldn't expect to be seated or served before someone who got there first or does have reservations just because you're famous.

Sure, but you might want to tell him that there is a 15 minute wait or something, not just pretend that the 7 foot tall guy standing over there waiting for the host(ess) doesn't even exist.

Wait, I'm confused... after you spilled taco grease on yourself, what did the restaurant staff do to damage the shirt further?

But I think you can expect to at least find a f*cking host/hostess within 10 minutes to find out how long the wait is and put your name in, no matter how lowly you are.

It's also your responsibility to approach them and not theirs to find you. For all they know, you could be with someone already on the list.

That's kinda SOP at most restaurants with table service, especally ones that also do call-in and/or walk-in take-out service.

That location is REALLY tiny, and he went at the peak time. Not that I'm excusing BelAir and their delicious tacos, but there might've not been a table open for 15 minutes.

Even my local Chili's and Applebee's has someone by the front door to welcome people. And they are the definition of mediocre.

Surprisingly, a lot are. When Stephen Goldsmith was the Mayor of Indianapolis he came in to pick up dry cleaning just after me on a busy day. I was a teenager at the time. He waited in line like everyone else.

A drycleaning service is not a restaurant, but the principle is similar.

Literally every single restaurant I have been to that isn't true and the host/hostess would ask.  I'm talkin restaurants ranging from fancy to f*cking Chili's.  Literally every single one would not let a customer just stand around when it's not very busy.  That's actually the only f*cking job the host/hostess has for f*cks sake.

4pm on a Sunday is a peak time?

There is nothing that peaks in Milwaukee at 4pm aside from traffic around the Marquette or zoo interchanges, and certainly not on a Sunday.

When the restaurant has few if any people waiting for a table, the host/hostess will quickly notice you. When it's packed with a long wait, they probably won't notice you and that's the situation TFA described.

That specific BelAir location is busy from open to close on an average Sunday, let alone one after a playoff win.

Still, no host/ess so much as acknowledging him for ten minutes is kind of shiatty. Their psuedo-apology and weird makeup promotion- "Free taco on Friday with purchase of another item if they win the series on Thursday!" is just odd.

DiModa- the one nearby he did end up at- isn't as good as the restaurant it replaced, but it's a solid alternative. I would've gone down the street to Birch and Butcher for a steak.

Where did we get the idea that none of the staff greeted him at the door? The restaurant has released its own camera footage showing that they did, and he waited only 10 minutes before leaving. That's nowhere near long enough there.

So it was really busy and he just decided that he'd rather walk two blocks to DiModa (which has a lot more seating and fewer people know about). BFD.

My full name, when written out, is 75 letters long without spaces and 84 with spaces. When I want reservations I call ahead and say how many people are joining me.

It's probably packed and you probably aren't getting a table without waiting for quite awhile.

BTW: I live very close to IMS and am usually far away from Indianapolis during memorial day weekend. I could actually watch both the Monaco GP and the Indianapolis 500 without needing a taxi (one in person and the other by cellphone).
