Except that white people were allowed to do the same thing, no questions asked.

By walking into an establishment and waiting for their friend to show up?  Then I cannot count the number of times I have trespassed in restaurants and cafes.

Trespassing, by definition, requires being where one is not wanted.  I am sure all the nice white people there were actually wanted by the racist manager. They were asked to leave,  and did not.  Hence,  trespassing.

No,  by not leaving said establishment when asked by management.

Calling them what?

What amazes me is the continuous disconnect within the GOP concerning the conflicting attitudes that:

1. You can just call the police.

2. We all need guns because the police are always too late.

They were told to make a purchase or leave.  They didn't make a purchase and they didn't leave.  I understand when the police showed up, they told the men to make a purchase or leave.  They didn't either make a purchase or leave when confronted by the police.  So the police arrested them for trespassing.

Call me racist, but not buying a cup of coffee in this situation seems unreasonable.

Possibly, but we weren't there.

If this FARK-happened in Florida to a coupla white yokels, we'd be having a different discussion.

They were waiting for a friend.

Is that not allowed where you're from?  Or is it not allowed for black people where you're from?

Calling the police IS a privilege.

If you're poor or a minority, you can't call the US police.

Sure thing. You're racist. Black people shouldn't have to justify their presence in any given place or situation when white people are given plenty of leeway. You say they were told to buy something or leave, prove it.

Plenty of stupidity to spread around here.

SB's are hostile to non purchasers (I've been asked to leave a couple and I'm white). The fellows probably felt and acted insulted when confronted, the manager went to the nuclear option and the cops had to clean up. More words were exchanged and cops went to the next level (which in a crowded place was NOT the worst thing to do) and let them loose in a neutral area.

Most stupid in this-the manager
Least stupid-frankly, the cops. They probably were wondering why this fool was wasting their time.

Yes, and that discussion would be what we're white yokels doing in a Starbucks when Krispy Kreme is just down the block with cheaper coffee AND a wide amount of pastries?

We see variations ,e.g. "we don't serve cops" which generates all sorts of white faux rage.

I think it depends on how crowded the place was. If there were empty seats and room, then the management should just ignore it and see if they get around the ordering anything. (And maybe they did, who knows?) If there's no room and no empty tables, then it's not out of line to ask them to either buy something, or vacate the table. Black, white or spotted.

Honestly?  Depends on how they were dressed and groomed.  Homeless white people get thrown out of SB all the time.

Well, you can, but they're likely to arrest or ticket you for basically nothing at the very least. There is also a nonzero chance they'll just blow your ass away for bothering them.

We weren't but it turns out that a lot of people who were there thought the police and the restaurant were in the wrong and they should have minded their own business.

I would say asking people in your establishment to buy your product is the definition of business
