It's nice when the elderly take up new hobbies.
Less nice is when that hobby is spree killer.

Thank God it was some other woman.  I was worried the FBI found out about my Mom's dead vagrant garden.

This is creepy. She murdered her husband, then chose to murder some innocent woman that looked like her to try and take her identity.  She's a crazy creepy lady.

If I'm not too late, I'd like to predict the snazzy nickname the cops will tag her with...

I'm going with "The Grandma Bandit".

Possibly "The Minnesota Grandma Bandit" if it somehow grows into "an alarming new trend".

But because she ISaccused of murder in two states.

Ffs man grammar.

She was accused of stealing $100,000 from her sister a couple of years back to feed her gambling habit. The story made the news in that part of Minnesota and she was dubbed "Losing-Streak-Lois".

Kind of clunky.

An extreme gambling addiction appears to be behind the killing and stealing.  A couple of years ago she stole $100,000 from her disabled sister and blew it on gambling
She was ordered to pay it back but never did. Now she's accused of stealing $20,000 from husband and then killing him. She was then spotted in a casino after that killing. Now killed this woman in Florida who looks like her and stole all her money and ID. The need to gamble can be as strong as a need to get a drug fix. One of the drawbacks of having casinos and lottery tickets so ubiquitous in the country.

Wait, this is just one woman?  Why refer to her as a "mother and grandmother"?  I'm pretty sure one needs to be a mother before one can get grandmother status, so isn't pointing out motherhood a bit redundant?

Or am I not quite awake yet and missing something?

morg: Investigators said that surveillance video shows Riess at Hutchinson's condo and that after killing her, Riess took Hutchinson's credit cards and driver's license and stole her white Acura, which was spotted in Louisiana and Texas, according to police.

Killing somebody to take their identity is only going to work if nobody notices for a while. Crafty plan but poorly executed.

Not so sure about the poor execution...car was found abandoned in Corpus Christi. Pretty easy for someone with a few bucks to get across the border from there...or hell, steal a boat after murdering its owner and go that way.  Also "spotted" in this case was probably license plate readers, not people calling in a tip.

As opposed to woman grammar?
I thought English was gender neutral.

Did she kill two people in two states, or just crit some fool into two pieces on a border.

I know some folks from Blooming Prairie. I'm sure they are acquainted with the unfortunate family.
At one time I had been banned from the grounds of the Blooming Prairie Country Club. It's probably a CSB but I only remember parts of it. Everything after the 6th hole is a blur.

Yeah, not much detail but I'm thinking they found the dead woman pretty quickly which defeats the whole purpose of killing her for identification.
