Will somebody please beat the Red Sox? It's getting insufferable here

Go Sox.

Also, I love that the first-place Pirates are ranked #13.

lol the Pirates are at 12 because their schedule has had a healthy dose of teams 28, 29, and 30

Yeah, but the idiots in Pittsburgh are starting to say "maybe Nutting was right!"

Hahaha no.

It's nice to see a Boston sports team finally do well!

I know the Cards are still over-reliant on offense and are on the right side of 500 thus far, but seven spots behind the C*bs? Come on.

I'll check back when the Bruins are finished, they will probably come back to earth by then.

If you think the fans are insufferable try listening to a David Price interview.

#14 just passed #2 in the REAL rankings last night. These rankings are kinda stupid.

There's a lot of shiat down at the bottom of the list. Tigers, Marlins, Reds, Royals, Rangers are going to be HORRIBLE.

Twins anywhere in the top half must be a joke, right?

Mostly checking to ensure the Rockies were still in the top 20.

/Dodgers are 11 with a 5-9 record?

Not at all.  They won the series against the Asstros last week.

Myk-House of El: /Dodgers are 11 with a 5-9 record?

6 and 9.  And part of the issue here is that they lost a bunch of close games (four of their nine losses were by one run and one was by two runs-all five of those games could have gone the other way easily).  There certainly is potential for them to turn things around.  Their starting pitching is great, their closer (Jensen) is the best in the league (although he uncharacteristically blew two saves early on), and their hitting has power up and down the lineup (they could use Turner back ASAP, though, and Seager is in a deep slump, with Puig not doing much better (Puig keeps hitting the ball hard right at fielders)).  Kemp, Utley, Grandal, and Beliginer are all on fire.  The only guy I hate in their line up is Pederson (I want them to send him down and call up Toles).

As per usual, the power rankings were posted yesterday, so last night's games not reflected.  I just have a problem with teams getting ranked based primarily on how they are expected to perform, not how they actually have performed.  OK for week one, maybe 2 but not in week 3.

They were in the Wild Card game last year and added rotation depth in the offseason. The Twins aren't a bad team at all.

Yeah they seem to be relying too much on which teams they think are better on paper, rather than picking teams that have actually performed better.

There's a whole bunch of .500 or worse teams in the top half of the rankings that just happen to have some of the biggest payrolls in the league.

The Dodgers have lost so many games BUT THEY ARE SO GOOD TRUST ME!

Not to mention how many games they get to play against my Tigs and the White Sox--pretty easy victories.

If they merely listed which teams were doing the best, you wouldn't need an article like this; you could just look at the standings and say whoever is currently in first place will win the pennant.

The Dodgers have done far worse so far this year than they should have, considering the players on the team.  The team is basically unchanged from the team that went to the World Series last year, especially on the offense, other than the addition of Matt Kemp (they no longer have Darvish and a couple relievers-but Darvish basically single handedly lost the Series for them).  But baseball is much more unpredictable than, say, football, where nine times out of ten the better team wins, which allows bad starts from good teams to happen more often.

At this point in the season it is probably just as reliable as the current standings for hiding the rest of the season.

They have played less than a tenth of the season against, what, five opponents? That isn't a very good sample size.

Don't forget the Royals! They'll be racing hard with the Tigers for worst in the division.

As I type this, Sox are kicking the snot out of the Angels.

Ohtani lasted all of 2 innings after giving up 3 runs.
