And the cop said "Y'all" in a West Memphis drawl
And it turned into a baby shower brawl.

Louisiana_Sitar_Club: That was horrible.
Do they have people who write these things or do they let a computer transcribe part of their newscast, throw  SUGGEST A CORRECTION at the bottom, and let the reading public take the place of an editor?

It was a terribly written article.  How much did you pay to read it?  Would you have paid any money to read a proofed version?

I would have a comment on this story, but I still am chuckling about the phrase "baby shower brawl".

She stalked the women and followed her into her room.  The officer deserves to lose her badge, she should be in jail and should get sued and lose possession of her double wide.

Other than the part about an off-duty cop being already on scene, this is a common thing in Flint.  Including the hanging up on the caller part.

Seriously, first assault I witnessed after moving to Flint was a neighbor getting jumped right outside my place by two men.  I didn't have a phone of any sort, so I snuck out, and made sure he made it to his place, where we then called 911, several times.  They told us they weren't coming and hung up each time.  They never showed.  It really hasn't changed.  A couple months ago, I listened to a dispatcher finally called for an officer to respond to a fight with a knife, 4 hours after the call was made.  Dispatcher even told the officer the call was 4 hours old.  I doubt anything was done, who would stick around for 4 hours to get arrested for threatening someone with a knife?

And company from out of town is incapable of booking because ... ? Anyway, I'm only reporting what was said before.

Not familiar with the area
Extended family (think college students on break) who are not self supporting, or working poor who otherwise would not afford to visit
Guests who overflowed the guest bedrooms/couches, and you wish to provide equal hospitality to all.

orbister: FrancoFile: What's the deal with getting a hotel room for a baby shower or birthday party?  I've seen quite a bit of that recently.

Is that so the 'hosts' don't have to deal with cleaning up before/after the event?

There was a thread recently about a hotel which cancels the booking of anyone who lives nearby because the assume that it's for a party and the place will be wrecked. From the comments it seemed to be pretty common practice.

We have one coming up and we've rented a space because our house isn't big enough to support everyone. These days it's pretty normal to invite men and women, which means a lot of kids end up coming and the head count can balloon pretty fast

So...crazy woman tries to disrupt a decorating party for a baby shower, crazy woman gets violent, off-duty police officer steps in and subdues crazy woman and you want off-duty strung up.

Yep, I have spotted the criminal that hates police because their life is unfair and they had what was probably a justifiable run-in with the law and it didn't go their way.

Where did the crazy women get violent?  When the self-inflated importance of the off-duty cop got her nose where it did not belong.  Once she followed into the room, she was wrong and deserves all the shiat that will land on her.

And nice job with the armchair pop psychology.  You could not have been further from wrong if you tried.

Someone was threatened, someone said they would "whoop this pregnant b*tch ass," that's about all we know. Oh, and they were a Clarion hotel guest
