Please note that a Representative from the Bearded Men Wearing Plaid Local 838 will be contacting you with a cease and desist letter for your vicious defamation of our proud union by using a snowblower to clear approximately 3/8ths of an inch of snow. In the future please remember that all bearded men wearing plaid have a responsibility to our brothers to keep our collective image strong and fierce, and to please refrain from using a snowblower until the depth of snow is at least six inches (unless, of course, your neighbor is a dick and you want to piss him off at 3 am, then the minimum depth required is three inches unless superceded by local bylaws). If the use of a snowblower at shallower depths is deemed necessary, please respect union rules by dressing accordingly in something frilly and backless.

Yeah, but it didn't seem to snow much since last night. I am not sure why all the schools are closed. I suspect that they just can't get all the parking lots cleared in time. The roads should be pretty good by now.

I wouldn't know because I have to stay home with the kids today after being home with them three days last week due to flu. When I actually get in to work I find out that my workers are a bunch of slackers.

It's not January 96th. It doesn't snow this much in January. The air is too cold and dry for that. Only later in the season is it wet enough for this to happen. In a more perfect world we'd have gotten two inches of rain instead.

/ We didn't get two feet of snow in Milwaukee. We got the same amount of water though. It landed in the form of rain, slush, freezing rain, and snow, so what I moved off the driveway was three inches of crap that weighed 40 pounds per shovelful. Good thing the thrower was up to the task, but holy shiat I was exhausted afterwards. From running the thrower. That's never a good day.

2018-04-16 08:23:06 AM
I am sorry, but to put up with ten months of this shiat just for two months of what would be spring weather anywhere else is insane. And, I am living proof of that for moving up here...

/amazing how these people can stay cooped up for ten months, yet cannot comprehend of an air conditioner for those places that actually have sunshine for more than five days at a stretch...

In Appleton as welll. So done with this crap

Snow, sleet, and freezing rain in my neck of the woods in Michigan. It has been doing this for three or four days now, and the only silver lining is that I may not have to drive up north for a work project I didn't particularly want to do, because there's no way in hell I'm driving up north in this crap. I'm staying home today, as it is.

And no, this is not normal. I've lived in Michigan for almost 5 decades, and I've never seen week-long blizzards in April. A day or two of snow? Sure. A flash freeze? Yeah, it happens every once in a while. But this is WINTER, godsdammit, and it shouldn't be happening in farking mid-April.

The animals all thought it was spring. The trees were starting to think so, too. The insects as well. The climate change, however, is telling all of us living things to go fark ourselves, this is how it is now.

2018-04-16 08:47:52 AM

On a semi-related note (since I think it's the same storm system that'shiatting us), the Boston Marathon is today. Current conditions at the start line in Hopkinton: 38 degrees, raining, winds at 15 mph right into the runners' faces. They're earning those bloody nipples today for sure.

Shoveled the walks a few times during the storm to keep up with it. Went over to shovel the neighbor lady's walks and steps (both her doors were drifted shut) and the snow was hip-deep. I hardly made a dent and will have to go back today. Every pair of boots I have are wet.
There is a four foot tall drift on one side of our roof. I have never seen that before.

Apparently that pic was taken in Wausau, which is about an hour away from me. I'm being told that schools are closed because the roads are still pretty lousy and people haven't all dug themselves out yet. Not to mention some country roads haven't been cleared yet due to ridiculously high drifts. Some of the roads near me feel like you're driving on a washboard and people are still ending up in ditches. And no, this much snow in April is not normal, even for Wisconsin.

Every year, somehow everyone gets amnesia and forgets that April is typically full of nasty weather in the northern parts of the country and it doesn't really get to be pleasant until around Mother's Day. Granted, we don't typically get two feet of snow (or, in my case, three inches of hard-to-move freezing rain and slush) but crap weather is pretty much par for the course every single year.
