(New York Daily News)   Derek Jeter says he won't show up at Yankee Stadium with the Marlins because it would feel awkward. Mostly because it's awkward going anywhere and admitting you left the Yankees to be with the Marlins   ( nydailynews.com) divider line

By trading Stanton to the Yankees, he may still be working for the Yankees.

So he's admitting he won't be doing his job properly.

That's smart.

I thought his first few months on the job were a pretty clear admission that be won't be doing his job properly.

you'd figure decimating your new team so that you and the other owners can transfer to the team the debt you took on to buy it would be the most awkward part of jeter's existence at this point

I don't know about that, trading the winters of New York for the sunny climes of Florida sounds like a decent trade to me.

Do y'all actually believe he's involved in any of these decisions?

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

The Marlins should have been a dominant team in the late 90's but after they won the World Series in 1997 they imploded the team. They did that on a lesser scale after winning it all in 2003. They've had horrible owners since the start, what a drag for the people in south Florida who like baseball.

he's supposed to be the acceptable face of corporate greed.  the amazing part is that there are any marlins fans at all with how the team keeps having fire sales and have the public pay for the stadium, yet still cry poor

If this is true, Jeter is a tool. I always thought highly of him

Who knows, maybe they're trying to copy the Astros' plan for success and are doing a fire sale to pay for the rebuild.

/whether or not they succeed is something else entirely
