C

Doesn't mean there won't be consequences, though.

I'm all for C.

I'm not saying I approve, but I understand.

Came to say this.

If you're gonna do that shiat, at least say that he broke in. That way, they actually charge him with something. Now, it looks like the parents may face some questions and possibly be prosecuted.

2018-04-15 09:50:54 AM
Wait. It says the man is a family acquaintance and the police advice is block him on instagram? Not all acquaintances know where one lives but it's not unusual. Cops went the extra mile to endanger a minor. That's some fine police work, Lou.

2018-04-15 09:51:20 AM
Don't record it on your phone.  Never record yourself breaking the law.  Other than that, yeah...

The only surprising thing here is that the guy is still breathing.

Invite him over using her phone, but be sure to be doing yard work with a machete when he arrives.

I may or may not have done something similar with one of my daughter's boyfriends.

He should have left it to the cyber police.

28 and 13?  Yeesh.  You don't have to be an overprotective parent to see that that situation is all kinds of farked up.

This ^

I am a father to both daughters and sons, and get the sentiment. However I would have just blocked the idiot and continued to monitor my kid's phone/accounts. I would've also messaged "Dude she's 13, and you definitely don't want to try this anymore." Now if that guy tried to setup a meeting (et al.) after that, and the cops wouldn't help, let's just say I might still be in prison.

2018-04-15 10:04:36 AM
That was kinda dumb in Canada.
Best they could have done was restrain him and call the cops.

No such thing as Castle doctrine up there.

Once they decided to actually hurt him after he was restrained, they really should have just committed themselves to killing him and losing the body.

Well, and not recording it. that's gonna come back to bite them later.

I always found that kind of implied violence to be less effective than making dinner. Yes, making dinner. Specifically I would try to get it so that I was prepping the whole hog (or suckling pig) for the next day. You'd never believe how effective prepping dinner can be until you've had a friendly chat with a would be paramour at the same time. (does not necessarily apply to vegetarians/vegans)

That being said, don't delude yourself either. We tried, at least somewhat successfully, to raise our daughters so that they would be responsible/be able to voice their feelings. My wife and I, however, were not about to delude ourselves into thinking our "little girls" were going to abstain from all sex until marriage. We sure as heck didn't wait for marriage to have sex, and it'd be ridiculous to delude ourselves that they absolutely would wait until getting married. We just wanted to make sure they could stand up for themselves and make that responsibly make that decision when they were ready, while understanding the consequences of that decision.

/we crossed fingers more than a few times when they went on dates
//no unpleasant incidents were reported to us, then or years later, thank goodness

Sounds reasonable to me.

Here are 10 rules from a father to a teenage daughter:

img.fark.netView Full Size

Rule One: If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure as heck not picking anything up.
Rule Two:You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, Iwill remove them for you.
Rule Three:I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise:You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact, come offduring the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.
Rule Four:I'm sure you've been told that in today's world, sex without utilizing a "barrier method" of some kind can kill you. Let me elaborate, when it comes to sex, I am the barrier, and I will kill you
.Rule Five:It is usually understood that in order for us to get to know each other, we should talk about sports, politics, and other issues of the day. Please do not do this. The only information I requirefrom you is an indication of when you expect to have my daughter safely back at my house, and the only word I need from you on this subject is "early."\
Rule Six:I have no doubt you are a popular fellow, with many opportunities to date other girls. This is fine with me as long as it is okay with my daughter. Otherwise, once you have gone out with my little girl, you will continue to date no one but her until she is finished with you. If you make her cry, I will make you cry.
Rule Seven:As you stand in my front hallway, waiting for my daughter to appear, and more than an hour goes by, do not sigh and fidget. If you want to be on time for the movie, you should not be dating. My daughter is putting on her makeup, a process that can take longer than painting the Golden Gate Bridge. Instead of just standing there, why don't you do something useful, like changing the oil in my car?
Rule Eight:The following places are not appropriate for a date with my daughter: Places where there are beds, sofas, or anything softer than a wooden stool. Places where there are no parents, policemen, or nuns within eyesight. Places where there isdarkness. Places where there is dancing, holding hands, or happiness. Places where the ambient temperature is warm enough to induce my daughter to wear shorts, tank tops, midriff T-shirts, or anything other than overalls, a sweater, and a goose down parka -- zipped up to her throat. Movies with a strong romantic or sexual theme are to be avoided; movies which features chain saws are okay. Hockey games are okay. Old folks homes are better
.Rule Nine:Do not lie to me. I may appear to be a potbellied, balding, middle-aged, dimwitted has-been. But on issues relating to my daughter, I am the all-knowing, merciless God of your universe. If I ask you where you are going and with whom, you have one chance to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have a shotgun, a shovel, and five acres behind the house. Do not trifle with me
.Rule Ten:Be afraid. Be very afraid. It takes very little for me to mistake the sound of your car in the driveway for a chopper coming in over a rice paddy near Hanoi. When my Agent Orangestarts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit your car withboth hands in plain sight. Speak the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car -- there is no need for you tocome inside. The camouflaged face at the window - is mine.

You can't invite someone into your house then attack them. Even in Florida that is not how Castle Doctrine works.

An excellent example of why you don't get a kid a phone until they are 16 ( or later).

"This is ridiculous," said the stepfather. "Shouldn't a guy be able to protect his own family in his house?"

Why ?
Was she 13 and the guy 28 ?
Or are you one of those over bearing fathers who think they're protecting his kid only to have her rebel 10x worse later and Fark her next BF in your bed while posting it straight to the net.
I get that sometimes fathers say it's a joke and all but seriously, unless theres a really gross age gap or the guy is just scum.
that crap gets old quick with kids and they'll do worse just to get back at you.
Case in point. My high school gf had a father that talked the talk and dis that kind of stupid stuff.
She went out of her way to make she she Farked me in every room of her house including back yard.
Sometimes doing something that parents today consider insane is the best course.
*Actually parenting you kid and monitoring the net*
Now these two idiots are going to get charged and convicted with a slam dunk confession and video evidence.

2018-04-15 10:23:15 AM
Mother: The police didn't do anything.

Police: We asked her to block the suspect and opened an investigation.

Mother: We invited the police to be part of the sting operation, but they declined.

Police: We asked her not to conduct a vigilante ambush.

Mother: Zap got him zip tied and we interrogated him.

Police: They have jeopardized the original police investigation and now may face criminal charges themselves.

*facepalm*

Bigdogdaddy: Sounds reasonable to me.

Here are 10 rules from a father to a teenage daughter:

That's funny, except the one about getting kids to change the oil. I wouldn't let anyone my daughter has dated near any of my cars. Or near a paint can even though the front porch could use a coat of paint. I don't know where she finds them but good Lord, what a bunch of helpless people. Same goes for my son's friends. They all seem to think that working at the local grocery or fast food joint is going to allow them to be able to afford to have people do these things for them.
