What's more shocking, a 16 finally beating a 1 seed, or a 16 annihilating the 1?

My strategy of picking Mizzou to win the National Championship failed horribly.

I had the west down but it's madness as usual. More so.

Those 1 seed kids are not going to live that down. Anybody can get beat but that was an ass whooping.

If Buffalo gets insane effort from every player, on every play, as they did on Thursday, then they're going to beat my beloved Cats

2018-03-17 11:46:52 AM
Well, I had Virginia in the final, so my bracket is pretty much f*cked

2018-03-17 11:57:09 AM
I feel bad for UVA and happy for UMBC.

I picked UVA  to win in all but one of my brackets, not that they weren't blown anyway.

This tournament is so fun.

Alabama winning here would do a world of hurt to many people.

But not me. Go Bama!

Oooop!

not only a 1 seed, but the overall #1 with only 2 losses on the whole year and they played a lot of top-25s. and they got shamed on a 20-pt drubbing. wish i could have watched that one.

as always, a stunning Duke loss would make me happy. I just dont want to live through it if it's a game with Kentucky. this might be the first year where I see montages of March Madness stuff that DIDNT feature Laettner's shot so i'd like it stay that way.

Well....it would appear Alabama is still in the locker room.

2018-03-17 01:34:13 PM
So, Nova has scored about 40 points in 5 minutes....*sigh*

2018-03-17 01:43:38 PM
Great.  My alma mater *finally* wins a first round game (a matchup set by the Creighton dude just for some BS former player drama), only to crowned with the black hats / evil henchmen role playing against the ultimate Cinderella feel-good story. Aces.

Alabama put up a good first half but it seems the 'real' Villanova has arrived for the 2nd half.

Alabama hasn't represented itself this poorly on the national stage since the 1960s

Massive boring blowout when there is only one game on.

Later tonight, when multiple games are on...there will be close games all over.

We all are.

On that note...if you haven't seen the UMBC Twitter account from last night, it's fantastic. It's like a play-by-play into utter sports delirium.

NYT Article about it

Actual account. Go back and read it all from the start. It's GLORIOUS.

Unfortunately, if that team had an Olajuwon or Drexler on it, I'm pretty sure I would've heard about it by now

The UCONN Women just won their game by 88 points.

140-52.

Holy sh*t.

That is because UCONN in WCBK is like a lot of girls high school programs... there is a really strong HS program, and everyone else around them is mediocre at best, and you get 112-14 games.

2018-03-17 04:10:19 PM
Most other viewers around the country probably wouldn't like it, but I sure hope the next game goes like the earlier games, with the higher seed winning easily

Oh, I'm well aware of that. But the fact they scored 140 points is incredible. 3.5 points a minute.

In women's basketball there is a huge fall off in talent from the top 5 teams and the rest. It has gotten better than it was a few years ago, but the talent gap is still huge.

In men's basketball, everybody's starting 5 are usually pretty even, you see the talent gap when it comes to the bench where the top programs will have a bench that could start at another major school, while the non major programs don't have the talent on the bench

SGA
Shae Gilgeous-Alexander

A lottery pick in 2 months.

Just wanted it noted that Ohio State is set to kick the shiat out of Notre Dame for the Big Ten hockey title at 8:00 PM. Or, failing that, it'll be a real shame when all five Notre Dame players on the ice plus their goalie simultaneously get their throats slit by some horrifically unfortunately placed skates.

Ohio State women lost last night in OT to some school named Clarkson? First trip ever to the Frozen Four so I'm happy as hell for them.

If Knox falls out of the lottery, I think some teams will live to regret it.  As good as SGA is, I think Knox projects as a better player on the next level

Sign me up with bionicjoe.  If UK loses, at least I'd get a good burger out of it
