Finland lies. Santa is Canadian.  It's where his home address is, according to Canada Post.

Oh and free cable. You know the good package, the one with all the movie channels.

...might as well throw in free healthcare, a good, strong economy, low unemployment, driver's who don't tailgate and who use their blinkers, drivers that don't text and drive, drivers that don't drink/drug when they drive and legal prostitution too. Ah utopia...

Oh and if you do go, be sure to ask them about the "Winter War".  Actually, you don't have to ask them, they'll voluntarily tell you about it, again and again.

Yes, but is their population diverse?

All the Finns I've known have been really hoopy froods.

How the fark is the US as high as #18?

I mean, yeah, we're going to be above China, Russia, and North Korea.  But that thing has Saudi Arabia at 33 and Japan at 54.  They have Pakistan at 75 and Greece at 79.  They think Russia (55) is happier than Portugal (77).

When you get results that nonsensical, something has to be wrong with your criteria.

Because, contrary to liberal belief, the US is pretty damn good place to live.

What's not to be happy about?

All of us Nordic (or Nordickish--no, wait, cancel that word) countries can look at the how the UK is run, then look at how the US is run and say to ourselves, hey, things aren't so bad, eh?

Even the French and Germans feel better about themselves when they check the news.

To be honest though, that little Finnish guy always makes me think of Tom Green. He should probably change the way he does his facial hair.

A Van Dyke would be cool and hip but look less like Tom Green.

By the way, Tom, I know it was you. Who the else sits in a limousine with a bull horn commenting on passersby? Bite me. I like that sweater. It's light and comfortable, but not too light to keep you warm.

Yes, Canada is not a Nordic country, but we can be somewhat Nordickish.

Yeah, we know it baby. You don't have to be Mike Myers to con to the slightly dickish side of Canadians.

Just look at some famous Canadians:  Will Shatner, The Bieb, Norm MacDonald (not that Norm MacDonald, the other one), and so forth.

But since we are Canadians we know that it looks cute on us.

My Finnish exchange student kid (now 32) would probably disagree. I sent her the link.

Winters are long, cold, and dreary. Alcohol is very expensive. And, according to her, there aren't many decent guys there.

Nordicity. That is something Canadians invented. It is a measure of Northerness. The Government uses it to determine isolation pay rates and such. If you live far enough North, you get big money to compensate for $1 eggs like they had during the Klondike gold rush. Everything costs more if you have to fly it in from the Deep South of Winnipeg or Edmonton.

One of my favourite SBSP moments. Patrick falls into a hole. For some reasonm, instead of shouting "I'm all right" or "ouch!" he shouts Finland!

I don't know why, but I find that hilarious.

I love Patrick Starr. He is played by the Big Dumb Blond Jock who was featured on Coach.

Of course, he is no longer so young and good-looking. But if you cross "Moose" with Steve Bannon, you get the idea. Yeah, Jon Benjamin. Perfect.

Well seeing as a "Republican" got into the highest office in the land by basically inflating fears amongst white folks about pretty much everything about living in the US, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it ain't just a liberal belief.

I have worked one person from Finland and met another couple. From my limited sample, I would say Finlanders are happy all the time no matter where they are.

Nothing, really.

CSB:
Just last weekend walked a mile south from Helsinki mainland, over the sea ice to this small island that has a public sauna. Pitched up the tent while there still was light, got the fire going, grilled a few good sausages. Heated up the sauna, had a long good sauna session, with long talks with my son while cooling off sitting on the bench outside, watching the sea ice stretch to quiet darkness. Absolute frozen silence, when we were still.

Sometimes, you really do not need much.

Funny, the one Finn i've met has been a thieving shiatheel.

The other guy is right about the Winter War, though.
