Trump is holding back until the Dem. candidate officially wins. Only then will it be official fake news

Lamb got *close*.  he shouldn't have been within sight of Saccone, but Lamb actually did WELL in an area of the state that's more Republican than gotdamn Texas.

100% of districts reporting. By like just 1,000 votes - Lamb in the lead.

*BARELY* in the lead...but yes, in the lead just the same.

WOW what a race!

Like I said in some other thread: I gotta save up my funds so when special elections come up in North or South Dakota, I can Enterprise a van and drive there to charm folks outta like grocery stores or something that aren't inclined to vote and just bring them to voting places - caring less about who they vote for but more that they just freaking vote!

the voter turnout was better here, but the percentage of the populace participating is still..... Well.... There's an obvious apathy clouding stuff still...

incidentally, scattered reports are that the GOP officials of Washington County are, right now at 5am EST, counting ballots without any observers from the Democratic party permitted in the room.

I'm hoping that isn't true.  the GOP really REALLY does not want to get caught anywhere near something that even looks like a hint of a shadow of corruption and trying to fix this vote.

2018-03-14 05:05:48 AM
If this ends up being true, in terms of him winning (and I hope that it is), it looks like one heck of a narrow margin. I fully expect full-throated yells of "RECOUNT!" to persist for some time yet.

I don't know if the mandatory recount thingie applies to non state wide elections in Pa.  someone better with the law would be able to answer that question better than me.

All that's left are the absentee ballots, which have mostly been counted by now.

I was pissed that Westmoreland County suddenly went dark on reporting precinct numbers which caused the NYT election page come to a screeching halt in its projections.

Also, PA elections don't count absentee ballots until AFTER the voting has closed? Really?! Smells bad.

Now, now, relax, Weaver, we're on the same team here. Westmoreland County happens to be pretty heavily Republican so the results posted as such were no surprise.

Rumor has it westmorland county (GOP controlled, incidentally) are trying to play silly buggers with the vote tally.

should make for a day of fun in the local news.  not sure yet if there's anything to these rumors.  some level of activity up at the capital complex (two blocks South east of my current position) and its not even sun rise yet.  usually that place is dead till morning.

lots o'rumors about tho.  expected, but....considering what's at stake, worth keeping an eye peeled just the same.  Saccone is a religious nut job, don't forget.  he might very well try and do something stupid out of the belief his god wanted him to do it.

There is no requirement for a recount in PA on this one because it isn't a state-wide election. There can be, and likely will be one anyway as it can be petitioned, which I'm sure it iwill be. That's if I remember what I read last night correctly.

According to the article, PA local races don't have an automatic recount, but a candidate can petition for one.

if the Republicans lose this race, there's a non zero chance turzai and saccone will just say 'f*ck it', impeach the state supreme court, and then ignore the election results while the courts are on trial.

No automatic recount trigger for this race, AFAIK. This could be interesting.

Years ago when I was a Majority Clerk for my precinct, that's what we always did.  It was always because the vote was never even close, and it usually never mattered.

Of course, this was before the electronic voting machines, so I don't know the procedure anymore.

Isn't that pretty common to have the final absentee and provisional ballots counted after? I'd swear I've heard the same line before: this race is close and were still awaiting the absentee ballots outstanding.

Will anybody actually be shocked if some fuzzy math by the GOP controlled officials throws this to a decisive victory for the GOP? Seriously, until we can get impartial observers in on it, I have zero faith that any US election is free of shenanigans. If the GOP doesn't win, it just means that they didn't cheat nearly enough in that election.

So will Roy Moore finally concede?

2018-03-14 07:36:19 AM
This is a twist. Usually the GOP prematurely declares themselves the winner. Now the Democrats have done it, and now all eyes are on the PA GOP as they try to Fark up the vote totals.

Brilliant move. At least the Democratic Party learned the lesson of the 2000 election: Always assume the GOP will try and cheat.

This is what "2nd Amendment solutions" are really for. Not because you disagree with a public policy choice, or the outcome of a free and fair election. But because you've been denied what the constitutional framers really fought for, which was the right of the people to choose their own government.

At this point, anyone detached enough to be impartial is too stupid to tie their own shoes.

This is my district. I live in Southern Allegheny / Northern Washington. The polling team told me yesterday it was looking to be a record-setting turnout for the election. That was great news. Greene County (south of Washington) went more for Lamb than expected, so that was also encouraging news.

Westmoreland County (farther east of me), opted to not report precinct by precinct but rather wanted to report as a whole. Then there was the decision that absentee votes wouldn't be counted last year but in some cases this morning. I'm not sure why they are prolonging it but :: shrug ::. In any case, I'm skeptical of Weav's report that they are doing everything behind closed doors since my twitter feed is full of shots of votes being counted in all four counties in scope.

They mistake "being personally against abortion but believes that choice is the law of the land and doesn't support thr proposed 20 week abortion ban" as "pro-life".

Yeah.  In my area they aren't counted unless their tallies could actually change the outcome.  The reasoning being that if the winner is leading by 5000 votes, it doesn't make much sense to count 2500 absentee ballots.

Actual tweet from him per news sources:

We're only a few hours away from me being the most hated man in America #PA18

Meanwhile, liberals are already outraged that Connor Lamb is a corrupt DINO who is going to brake all his campaign promises because it is very important to emphasize that Demcrats winning elections is just as bad as Republicans winning them:
