2018-03-14 12:01:13 AM
I'd like to imagine he's running and jumping and swimming somewhere.

2018-03-14 12:01:25 AM
Well that's devastating.

2018-03-14 12:01:28 AM
He never would have lived that long if he'd had to deal with socialized medicine!

Sad

2018-03-14 12:02:12 AM
Well, hell.  Considering his ALS was supposed to carry him off a good 40 years ago,  not a bad run.  And thank you, sir, for your contributions.

2018-03-14 12:02:13 AM
There will never be another like you, Professor Hawking.  I don't usually believe in the afterlife, but for you, I will make an exception, because I would like to think you are shaking Carl Sagan's hand right now.  And Newton's, and Kepler's, and...

2018-03-14 12:02:33 AM
I'm ...

...

*sigh*

...

Look, that he lived past 30 is a amazing. To go as long as he did, and to accomplish what he did...

...

We need to make 3/13 a farking Worldwide Holiday going forward. He's on the pantheon with Ike Newton and Albert Einstein as the Smartest Motherfarking Humans That Ever Were

I guess that universal healthcare finally got him.

And hate on Big Bang Theory all you want, his appearances on there were hilarious.

RIP

OK this one then?

*cries* a great light has gone out. Not perfect, I know, but such a mighty force for the whole of science.

2018-03-14 12:03:13 AM
Now who will save us from aliens?

2018-03-14 12:03:21 AM

fark.

2018-03-14 12:03:25 AM
He had 50 more years than he should have, given his age of diagnosis and very poor prognosis, so we should be thankful his presence on this little dusty ball was as long as it was.

RIP genius man...

2018-03-14 12:03:31 AM
This one?  OK.

He did alright for himself and accomplished more than could be expected.  Good for him.

2018-03-14 12:03:41 AM
I found out about this in one of the nerdiest ways possible: general chat in Ul'dah in Final Fantasy XIV. Naturally, I came here to confirm, and never before have I been so sad to realize that someone wasn't trolling. :(

How few of us could claim to have left such a legacy with such a disability? RIP thank you for all you've done for science, our knowledge of the universe, and humanity in general.

2018-03-14 12:03:53 AM
Okay who forgot to plug in the battery charger?

2018-03-14 12:04:08 AM
Brilliant man, Hell of a legacy. Thanks for all the knowledge, sir.

2018-03-14 12:04:11 AM
As a person, he was relentlessly dedicated to learning. Whether it be as a student or teacher. He strived to answer the questions no one else could or would. And he had no problem laughing at, or making fun of, himself.

The people like Dr. Hawking, who find joy in everything they do, are the people we should all strive to be.

Fun fact: Stephen Hawking was the only person to play himself throughout the entire run of ST:TNG

2018-03-14 12:04:19 AM
I had the pleasure of seeing him 'speak' in person a couple of times. He had some amazing charisma that I can't quite explain.

2018-03-14 12:04:25 AM
Rest In Peace Mr Hawking.
You helped us know ourselves and our universe better.
Say Hi! to Carl for us.
