All I can say is thank Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan that social media didn't exist back then.

To be fair, there is a strong plurality of those kids who might exist except for Spring Break.

Ditto. Think I went once when a friend's dad funded the condo. It was dumb.

Going to job fairs in distant cities you'd like to move to after you graduate? Knocking out papers? Getting some personal reading done?

wademh: I worked. Few of us had the chance to party for a week.

Thirded.

Though one year, junior year, I think it was, I took the week to go hang out with my grandmother, who was just south of Daytona. Very nice actually. No one in either of their pools. Swam and laid around by the pool.
Good times.

Happy to have some time off, hanging around the house and playing video games for a week? Catching up on some TV shows?

More power to 'em.

Otherwise, yeah, exactly the same.

Fourthed.

I never saw "spring break" first hand until I was in my late 20's and stumbled into Daytona on the wrong week, just wanting to get out of the cold for a couple of days.

Spring break during college was just another opportunity to work extra hours for tuition money.

Up hill, both ways.

No feet....

It's amazing how disgusting it is to see college students copulating in the hotel pool when you're not a college student anymore.  I mean, who wants to swim in that?

There's a WHOLE lotta freshman 15....err...25 in those photos....

Back in my day, the booze was just booze.  It wasn't mixed with a whole bunch of fatty antidepressants and HFCS.

They worked instead of going to college because their grandfather married a woman 1/4 his age after his wife died and the new wife took all the money that was supposed to go for all the grandchildren's college fund.?

Yeah. It was mostly a chance to pick up extra shifts/odd jobs.

Let's see...my spring breaks in college included Mexico (Freshman year, drinking age 18), Canada (Sophomore year, drinking age 19), and Florida (Senior year, drinking age 21) with a lame spring break spent touring the south of Spain for Holy Week during my Junior semester living abroad (drinking age 18).

I would rank the experiences Mexico-Canada-Spain-Florida. I'm not sure why anyone would want to do Spring Break in the United States; it's like going for a bachelor party in Saudi Arabia. No drinking in public, no being drunk in public, no making party noise in your hotel, no sex on the beach, etc., etc. Seems like a good way to get arrested more than to have fun, plus Florida is cold still this time of year.

Joke's on you, substereno. Never did spring break, or a HS class trip.  Grew up in So Fla' s spring break central, witnessed the stupidity, and, well, had better things to do.

On the east coast, the Spring Breakers get a little out of control.  I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near there this time of the year.

Anyone else notice there are 9 pictures with cops in them and 6 of them feature the cops arresting/contacting a person of color, including a few black men and a few latinas? Only 1 white person appears in a contact with law enforcement. It's a dude who is harassing a police animal on a dare... without any repercussion.

I went South Padre Island one year. Was about to get laid on the beach but it was a tad cold so she wanted to go back to my room. Everybody was still awake and all we had was the couch. Sure, you would have still done it, but that ain't my scene. Oh well.

The day we arrived was hot and sunny, cold the rest of the time...the day we left was hot and sunny. Such is life.

The article features picture after picture of public intoxication, underage drinking, and open containers on the beach. Then, out of nowhere:

Dispatch, this is Officer 918. We've got a DWB in progress on Fort Lauderdale beach, I repeat, there are minorities present on Fort Lauderdale beach. Going to need backup, he's got a gun!

And this is why you should never go to the American South.

On Friday alone, DailyMail.com witnessed eight incidents in which kids were hauled off the beach or cited for drug and alcohol possession within the space of 30 minutes

So Daily Fail sent reporters to Florida to watch college kids getting drunk?  Hard-hitting news there.

I always went to a private school so never had a full week off for spring break (think I only had the Friday before Easter and the Monday after it off).  All I did was play video games.  /darn esports not being a thing until now stinks :\

There's cold, f*cking cold, and then there's Quebec cold.

They all worked on campus during break and played Catan and D&D in the evenings? Some of us had to fight to pay the bills in college.

One year we did a marathon D&D session just to see how long we could play. We made it 30 hours straight, with a couple of pizza breaks sprinkled in there. Not doing that again.
