(AL.com)   If you see a cockroach in the lobby of your apartment building, you could squish it, ignore it, or inform management. But don't try to kill it by setting it on fire   ( al.com) divider line

TFAHuntsville Fire Investigators contacted police after recognizing signs the fire had intentionally been set, Johnson said.  Video footage at the scene showed a person use a lighter to set fire to the bulletin board, according to police.

Well, that actually checks out.

Fire is for spiders.

Just don't squirt axe into a 20oz pop bottle, light it on fire and watch it zoom around the room. That would be irresponsible. Also, you'll set your hair on fire.

I make sure to eat enough pizza to keep boxes around to squish those farking arachnids.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Always make sure the critter you're about to incinerate is on fireproof material. The alternative is to invert a can of refrigerant (duster) and freeze it to a crisp.

I used to have this roach that runs around the stairway in my walk-up apartment. We called him Ralph, our security guard.

Bacl when I lived in Florida I once impaled a roach with a knife and left it stuck to the wall for a month as a warning to the others.  If you think that sounds crazy... it worked!  I didn't see another roach until after I finally took it down.

Last roach I caught was carrying an egg pod, so hell yah I set it on fire.  Wrapped it in paper, crushed it, took it outside and lit it up on the concrete.

No, I think lighting them on fire was a reasonable response.

Brown recluses on the balcony of my apartment in TN. First night there I informed them if they stayed where they were and ate the mosquitoes and such, I'd leave them be. Come in and I was headed to the Super Walmart for a 10-pack of Bic lighters and the biggest can of Aqua Net I could find and being it was Tennessee,  you could practically get it in a can to match Princess Vespa's Industrial-Sized Hair Dryer.

Never had a one in the apartment itself. They also seemed to move off our balcony (webs centered around the lights, natch) to our neighbors'. Sorry/Not Sorry.
