yeah high-level sports gaming doesn't resemble the sport that much. it resembles the best way to exploit the AI of that year's version. obviously it's harder to just do money plays against another human than the AI, since they're trying to do it too, but in the end that's what it's a battle of

They should do like the Gran Turismo Academy thing years ago - have the best players try to do the real thing and if they're good enough sign them to a contract, it would be hilarious with hockey.
