Finally, some good, honest news about kindness and just rewards.

And the John Oliver bit below it is great commentary on International Women's Day reactions too!

Oh that's just perfect. Now every waitress in every damned cafe in the world is going to be looking for good deeds to do, and I'm going to have to wait a week for my bloody bacon and eggs.

Save for college? Or get a degree and pay off loans with high-paying job? If you save for college, you don't have faith in yourself.

Dear Jerk: Save for college? Or get a degree and pay off loans with high-paying job? If you save for college, you don't have faith in yourself.

A really good indicator that you should go to college is if your family and you cannot afford to save enough money for it.  I know farkers love to drone on and on and on about six figure debt for  degrees  in underwater fire fighting or 14th century wombat scat, but the reality is a good college education,  can take someone from a welfare recipient to a six figure earner and beyond.  No, I'm not implying this waffle house waitress was on welfare.  I was when I was a kid though.

Don't forget to pay taxes on that tip.

Yeah, because everyone immediately gets a high-paying job with every college degree.

Scholarship, not tip.  Scholarships are not taxable if used to pay for tuition, books and fees.  If used for room and board, then it's taxable income.

I'm not arguing (well, except about the spelling of "humble", already corrected), but have we really gotten to the point where it's so unusual for someone to help someone else out that it calls for a day in that in person's honor and a college scholarship?

Growing up, my parents drilled it into us kids that helping other people was just something you're *expected* to do.

Of course not and nor should you expect to. There's this little thing called "paying your dues". You start out as the low person on the totem pole and through hard work and attentiveness your commitment is recognized leading to pay raises and promotions. Anyone expecting to make a 6 figure salary as soon as they graduate is delusional and with a high degree of entitlement.

Working your way through college can be dicey.  This should cover a chunk of the tuition, so she can focus on the other scattered costs you are peppered with as a university student.  Hopefully now she won't be smothered by debt when she leaves.

Good for her to want to go to school to get a better job and put the effort in to do it. While most farkers have gone to college, there are quite a few families in the US where no-one has.

Hardy-r-r: Trump sent her a 1099

Slightly off topic, but I got a check from part of a class action lawsuit I didn't even know i was a part of last year . $7.23. Original amount was $9. They took $1.77 out for taxes. Sent me a w-2 for it, so like a good boy (who may or not be red flagged by the IRS) I filed it. $25, for a net loss of $17.77.
/Thanks Obama!
