Someone ought to deaf-sign (BSL) what he says, run that through a round of Chinese Whispers, and translate back into English after filtering through a Khoisan language speaker without technical knowledge of, er... pretty much anything. When that's done, ROT-13 it and run it through a battery of mathematical transformations executed on a sub-120MHz Pentium.

See, nothing random there.

well, there you have it.
I don't think he could have said it any clearer.

rockets.

he should have just said 'rockets', made some rocket noises, and left the room.

And we're really at the forefront -- nobody's doing what we're doing. And I don't know if you saw last -- with Elon -- with the rocket booster where they're coming back down.

Earth to Dotard, YOU aren't doing shiat.

Did you guys here about me and Michael Jordan?  "WE" won 6 titles together. What we did is amazing!

That speech pattern, the way it follows... nothing apparent to anyone else... truly a stable genius!

I give him a 2/10 for execution, technical knowledge, actually finishing (who knows, how can you tell), and not sheitting himself mid word salad.

"But NASA is making tremendous strides and we're using a lot of private money, a lot of people that love rockets and they're rich. So they're going to be a little less rich probably, but a lot of rockets are going up.

Something that completely baffles trump... that anyone would actually spend their money on non-investments voluntarily, no matter how much you have. But then trump is a cretin, so no surprise...

[A]nd we're using a lot of private money, a lot of people that love rockets and they're rich. So they're going to be a little less rich probably, but a lot of rockets are going up.

He had to get his little dig in there, insinuating that, since they're clearly losing money pursuing hobbies, they aren't as smart as he is.

Elon should offer Trump a ride in his Roadster.

"Before me are some rocket ships [there were rocket models in front of him on the table]. You haven't seen that for this country in a long time...Many of the jobs we're doing are privately financed. We're letting them use the Kennedy Space Center for a fee and, you know, rich guys, you know, they love rocket ships. That's good. That's better than us paying for them. And I noticed the prices of the last one they say cost $80 million. If the government did it, the same thing would have cost probably 40- or 50-times that amount of money...I'm so used to hearing different numbers with NASA."
"But NASA is making tremendous strides and we're using a lot of private money, a lot of people that love rockets and they're rich. So they're going to be a little less rich probably, but a lot of rockets are going up. And we're really at the forefront -- nobody's doing what we're doing. And I don't know if you saw last -- with Elon -- with the rocket booster where they're coming back down. To me, that was more amazing than watching the rocket go up, because I've never seen that before. Nobody's seen that before, where they're saving the boosters, and they came back without wings, without anything. They landed so beautifully. So we're really at the forefront and we're doing it in a very private manner."
"At the same time NASA is very much involved and doing their own projects, but we're bringing that whole space flight back. We'll be sending something very beautiful to Mars in the very near future, and we're going to areas that nobody thought possible, certainly not this quickly. So we're very proud."

There is not enough dressing in the world for that salad.  Sarah Palin thinks Trump rambles like a retard.

Let me see if my Trump to English translator is working properly:

Private companies are doing things NASA used to do, and they are doing it so well that they are making money. I want to charge them more money to use NASA facilities because fark those talented guys.

Is my translator calibration within spec?

At least Elon and SpaceX have an income stream.  The one that gets me is Blue Origin.  They currently have over 1200 employees with a stated goal of continuously hiring until they reach 4000 or so.  Their median salary is well north of $100K.  They've sold $0 worth of rockets or launch services so far.

I guess when you're the richest person on the planet, you can afford a hobby business with a quarter billion per year burn rate (and still get richer).

2018-03-08 06:38:04 PM
I'm waiting for Trump to decide that, since the rich guys have everything under control rocket-wise, we don't need NASA anymore.  Think of the savings!

LabGrrl: Who talks like this? I mean, really.

A senile old man, which is what he is. Or a drug addict. Or a very stupid person unfamiliar with how anything works. Or a mentally ill person. Possibly someone who's all of those things.

We've had (in recent memory) two senile presidents and at least one who's not all that bright, thanks to the Republicans.

I guess they really do want someone just like them. Senile, drug-addled, mentally ill and/or stupid.
Not all that surprising. That's pretty much my assessment of everyone who voted for the shrieking void in the White House.
