Well democrats might get complacent and not come out to  vote in the numbers necessary to win things in the places that matter to them, just like when Trump won.

We need to get back to the normal timeline. It's either slingshot around the sun at warp 9 or take the house back.

Because they need to tell me what they're for, not just what they're against.
Sure, you may not be the guy in the race that's for starving out poor people, exploding the deficit, relegating anyone whose not a rich straight white Christian (but only the right kind of Christian) male to second class citizenship, but what are you for?
Until you inspire me, I can't trust that you're any better than the guy who says he's going to make a conscious effort to screw over 99% of the population.
Maybe I'll vote 3rd party again so the Dems can get their act together.

all these guys said Trump had no chance in 2016.

As we get closer to the election, at some point this summer we're going to start getting a bunch of accounts flooding us with that same argument, but they will actually be serious. Then after the election they'll all go dark again. Just like 2016.

Until the bot farms get called into action for the next election.

Even more important is a mass retake of statehouses in/by 2020, to undo the GOPer gerrymander of 2010. Counting on the +20 to Democratic enthusiasm and turnout necessary to beat it lasting is a really, really, bad idea.

Or if SCOTUS does the right thing and accepts Stanford's algorithm as able to identify gerrymandering, and henceforth declares it illegal nationwide.

/Dems retake house in 2018

This is not a clear projection of a Democratic win.  The seats leaning or better to Republicans are only 6 seats short of a majority, and there are 25 toss-ups.  Unless you assume almost all the toss-ups go to Democrats, the House would not flip.
img.fark.netView Full Size

This is an early projection.  There is a lot that has not yet happened that will affect the result, whatever it is.  But we can't settle for just this.

Was this before or after the Tariffs were announced?

It may play were in PA in steel country, but it's not going to play well with people who work in any industry that's dependent on steel.

Funny, it's almost like the forecasts might have presented a voter reality that somehow got externally farked with in unexpected, unusual ways.

Nahhhhh.

One of the most significant ratings changes is the special election for Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District, which is now rated as a "toss-up." A recent poll showed Democrat Conor Lamb holding a slim lead against state Rep. Rick Saccone (R) in the race for the deep-red district, which Trump won by double digits in the 2016 election.

Hmm...it's as if those Steel tarrifs were nothing more than a political Hail Mary for the Republicans to keep that district.

Dems and Libs.

When November comes around, vote.

I don't care if the candidate you voted for didn't get past the primary. The Dem nominee is probably not going to be 100% to your liking.

Get over that shiat and vote because the alternative to that stinky centrist Dem is far far worse.

farking vote.

Yep! While it's impossible to say just how much complacency impacted the 2016 election, if at all, there was certainly some degree of it, sparked in part by Clinton being a lukewarm candidate and in part by people being convinced that Trump had no chance to win.

Might a key state or two flipped the other way if there's wasn't a perception that Clinton would win in a walk? Hard to say.

But feeling overconfident because Trump is looking really bad right now and polls badly would be a huge mistake.

Certainly it impacted the GOP primaries, where week after week people assumed that the charade couldn't last, so they sat on their hands until it was too late. It could play a role here, too, in districts where the race is tight.

Never said there's no point in voting for them but the party that willingly nominated Hillary (aka Hitlery, aka Killary, aka Hilghazi, aka the lightning rod of hatred and loathing for the right) for president certainly shows a penchant for defeat snatchin'.

Larry Sabato used to be a Democratic Party strategist.

Sabato's one of those smart guys who started being too wrapped-up in how prescient he was for a while. His ego is pretty spectacular - made it impossible to have a conversation with him.

is this the thread where "concerned dems" cite all the polls that said trump wouldn't win, but neglect to talk about russian warfare (fark "meddling"), or voter suppression, comey, or any of the other suspicious factors that happened at the last minute that affected voter turnout?
