Yep.

And every so often, there's a weird smell in the datacenter.  Never been able to figure it out. I'd say because it's a disused lavatory, but the whole building is only 6 years old, and it's always been the datacenter.

Maybe I've got a phantom shiatter....

My younger son and I are listening to the original radio dramas when in the car between point A and point B.  It's interesting getting to share it with him at about the age I first read the books.

And I'd never listened to the original version before, which makes for interesting changes from my perspective.  The pacing's different, some bits are moved around or changed, etc.

I still have the big fark off leatherbound bible looking edition that came out before he'd released Mostly Harmless. Think I'll have to give it another read through.

I had the leatherbound version of it, with the fancy gilt edging and a bullt in bookmark tassel thing that probably has a name.  I'd read it so often the binding broke.  Then it got lost in a move.

Of all the things I have had and lost in that move, that book is the number one thing.  The second is my Guinness bar towel, because I did get one.

I had a datacenter in a science museum that was built into the floor above the planetarium dome. Used to be the old library book stacks. Well, given that it was built on top of a theater, full of slide projectors, arc lights, and other things known to catch fire we moved the data center.

To a disused elevator machine room.

That the had to add air conditioning for. And fire suppression. And a locking door. And a dehumidifier because otherwise the tape drives would jam.

The humans stayed upstairs above the planetarium. We only had (just enough) room to move the servers.

But our office was cool. We, literally, had doors that were 4 feet tall. Behind a filing cabinet. They led to a Ben Franklin impersonator's head though, nothing as ritzy as John Malkovich.

I got to do my AP english term paper on Douglas Adams. We were supposed to do an American author, but there was a Douglas Adams on the list. So I picked him and just played dumb enough for long enough that I got away with it.
