"We asked why and were ignored. Is there a legitimate reason this is not allowed or just poor customer service?"

You had the answer correct.
Starbucks,
You wasted a great opportunity to promote a positive image for yourself.

Safety for the horse and rider.
Same reason they won't serve people who just walk up to the drive-through.

Also, with 4 years to plan it, when not make sure this unorthodox use of the drive thru is allowed and can be accommodated.

They do that so they don't get robbed at the drive through by people walking. Cars have license plates they can see on camera.

A horse does not.  STFU and walk in like the rest of the non drivers.

I'll bet the horse's dream was to not have a chick make her walk on asphalt or go through traffic.

What s/he said.  Drive-thru's for driving.  It's not a walk-up window (which many places have).

I'm just guessing, but it might have something to do with Starbucks not wanting to deal with piles of horse poo in their drive thru.

2018-03-08 01:05:30 PM
I'm no fan of Starbucks, but teenage attention whores are worse.  If being denied service for a caramel frappucino at a Starbucks because she's on a farking horse causes her enough concern that she and her mom run to the local news station to claim victimization, they should probably take a step back and count their blessings.

This.

Also, riding a horse on the streets is bad for the horsie. NYPD farriers make special shoes for their street-legal horses. Wonder if Princess had those.

Why would I do that? I neither work there or drink their overpriced shiat.

If the horse is already in the drive thru, it's too late anyway. Might as well take her money.

There is no way this was simply because the manager was being a jerk. This is 100% because an insurance company told Starbucks, "hey for your stores with drive thrus, no serving anyone not in a car"

Ahhhh..... Bingo!

2018-03-08 01:24:53 PM
Living just outside an equestrian-zoned area, i thought there wouldn't be much of an issue to horsemen milling about on their hoofed distractions.  After a few years of them bumbling down the street taking dumps on the tarmac, i started to resent their presence.  I know exactly whom it is doing this too.

So i thought: what if i took a fat growler on this guy's porch, then drop a brown bag set alight next to it before sodding off.  It really streeses the lack of thought, sort of like the world's shiattiest soliloquy.  It's unfortunate the low road, however and oh-so-satisfying, should always lead to nowhere.

Tl;dr-- I've low opinions of horses and high opinions of glue factories

How do you ride a house through a drive thru?

I hate using the drive up at my local Starbucks. 1/2 the time they can't hear my order and they misspell my name on the cup. When I am inside I can more effectively tell them my order and tell them how to spell my name. Plus my chances increase of getting one of these from a cute barista

There's a very good reason why once cars were widely available everyone instantly stopped using horses.

Only halfway convinced?!
Even the horse girls in high school put out that "different" vibe.
Probably because they had logged more orgasm hours than any of the other girls.  At least with a living breathing organism between their legs.  Go Trigger... or Scout.

Streets became way less shiatty.

Minor fender benders happen every day at drive thrus. If you accidentally run into a horse in front of you while digging for exact change, I doubt it would be minor.
