As usual, you find one ring and you stop looking.

TFA is unintentionally hilarious.  From Stinky's Fish Camp to "but came up fruitless ".  Magicians, tattoos, metal detecting.  Is there nothing Florida can't do in the way of entertaining?

Now I want to visit Stinky's Fish Camp.

/Only been to Clark's Fish Camp in Jacksonville.
//If you're in that area, be sure to go there.
///It's awesome.
////Be sure to order the fried alligator and bison mountain oysters.

If you're ever down near DeLand, Shady Oak Fish Camp is great.  Catfish and Gator Bites.
Now I'm hungry.

I assume, since this is Florida, after finding the ring, he had it modified into a Prince Albert piercing, then showed up to the owner's house and dropped trow to present them with their lost keepsake.

Strangely, this article makes me deeply miss Florida. A bunch of weirdos hanging out at the beach, on land that was and will soon again be ocean.

I haven't really enjoyed living in WA, maybe because I work nights? Maybe because I'm at the age when true friendship dies a horrible death? In any case, if it wasn't full of Republicans I would consider moving back to Florida.

Will do.  And damn it, now I'm hungry.

When I was at Clark's fish camp, I met some of the regulars and had a great time.  But since they knew I was from Seattle, they must of assumed I was very liberal, because one guy said "We're a bunch of rednecks here, but we're good rednecks....we helped each other out after the hurricane."  It was kind of amusing, because I'm not that liberal.

/Was down there for Seahawks @ Jaguars.
//Despite the loss, I had a fun time...Southern hospitality at its finest.

I live in Washington, and if summer did not exist, I would love to live in Florida.

Some states it'll illegal to use a Metal Detector on public beaches. I think it's illegal in Florida at state parks.

No snark from me. That was a very nice thing for him to do.

I was working for a retired surgeon who lost his wedding ring while doing yard work.  They have an acre lot, so when he asked me to keep an eye out for it, I was skeptical.  I was repairing the slate roof on the garage, and when the sun got to a certain angle I noticed a sparkle in the rhododendrons.  I got down to ground level, and sure enough there was a gold and platinum band with tiny diamonds around the equator, leaning against a root.  I gave it back to him, and got a "thanks."
No tip, but the guy is a little soft in the cranium at his age, listens to a lot of Rush- not the musical group.
/end cool story.

Is Shady Oak better than JB's Fish Camp over in New Smyrna?  Thinking about a dozen oysters and an IPA at the back bar right now.

Only ever been to JB's once and wasn't disappointed.  I'd say they are probably on-par with each other as far as food.  I like Shady Oak because it's right on the St. John's.  JB's is a little less "rustic."

Just don't move to any place north of Orlando.

Here's the map that was getting thrown around when a group in Miami proposed splitting Florida into two states.
Aqua-blue Florida is the redneck Republican south.  Orange Florida is basically the same culture as the northeast and midwest, but with year-round summer.

Less rustic, especially after Irma pushed the lagoon into JB's last fall. They had to gut the place. Water came in 4 feet up the walls.

/The floors are no longer sticky. The stuffed deer are still there.

As someone who was born and raised in the Orange part, and still lives there, I can assure you that we have PLENTY of redneck Republicans running around here.

Them and Canadians. Can't wait until season is over and they go back to Ontario

Map is spot-on except for Gainesville which needs to be included in the good part.  Maybe Saint Augustine as well.  Lots of people from the NE stop there and never leave.

I lost my ring just a few moths after getting married. Among the snow covered Sequoias of Kings Canyon in California. I filled out a lost property form (November). Summer comes and we're home while I'm on military leave and Mrs. Edmos is dying to get me a new ring. I'm resisting.

Lo and behold, the ring shows up at my parents house in July. We took that as a good omen.

This.

Used to go back and forth between Mass and FL when I was a kid. Always up there in the summer.

Now when I sweat my ass off at work in the summer, I use it as motivation to save enough money to have a small place to have up there in summers when I retire.

/South Florida
