Homemade...too sensitive to be handled.
I'm guessing NI3?
You can buy the ingredients on Amazon; just mix 'em, wait a little while and let it dry.

Please if you do try making this stuff only make a few mg at a time and use it right away; don't store it.

The materials were described as "too sensitive" to be handled.

Just use asset forfeiture to steal someones money and buy a robot.

"The operation was a success, eliminating the threatening explosive material," Kreuziger said."

The explosive material was a threat, not threatening.... I hope. I mean, if the explosive material was somehow sentient and also making threats...  oh boy, good thing they blew it up.

Or TATP; neither are anything to play with and especially not in a dam apartment.

Good advice. I might go further and add:

Eschew the non-due.

But try to pay your bills on time or slightly early.

One could make all kinds of explosives with common household items.

If one were so inclined.

Even if you try to store it, you'll likely wind up "using it right away" or at least in fairly short order thereafter.

Just use asset forfeiture to steal someones money and buy a robot.

Then you have a blown-up robot as well as a blown-up building.  Containing the blast is the best approach if it's too sensitive to handle.

Wow.  Cops are really, really, really farking stupid.

"Hey, this stuff could blow up and do a lot of damage.  I know, let's blow it up and do a lot of damage!"

Rebuilding that building should come out of their pockets.  It won't, but it really should.

Except that if there was already a smaller explosion near these "too sensitive to handle" explosives, they'd have already blown up from the shock of that.  And there was already a smaller explosion.  Whatever explosive was there was definitely shock stable.

They're lying.  Not surprising, because they're cops.

According to TFA the FBI and ATF 'nom disposal experts' were involved. I knew a couple EOD guys when I was in the Navy, if that type of person says something is too dangerous to move, it's probably too dangerous to move.

I know a few members of the local bomb crew of the cops.  There are times when it safer to just blow the crap up where it is then try and risk moving it/disarming it.  When its homemade stuff that is not made with the safety things that are made for demo companies or the military.

Too dangerous for a person to move. That's why you use a robot. Just seems like you should at least try before deciding to blow up a whole building.

A lot of shock sensitive explosives aren't shock sensitive when they're wet, but are once the liquid has evaporated off to a certain point, and are extremely sensitive once dry.

If a guy was making shock sensitive explosives and there was a beaker there that was intact and still had some liquid in it and you told me "hey, go grab that," I'd kindly tell you to go stuff it.
