Nope, wrong skin colour. Violent vigilantism is only okay as long as you're not a blah person.

I would of drove them a few hours into the country and dropped them off on a empty forest road.

Maybe tranquilize them and install and ear tag too.

Seriously.  A stolen car doesn't mean it's somehow OK to hold people at gunpoint, shoot into their car, beat and stomp them, and then drive them around in the trunk.

That entire 2 wrongs don't make a right thing.

Getting into/causing a car chase that ends up in several cars hit and a townhouse plowed into is MOST LIKELY gonna get all parties involved arrested as hell.
Cops HATE high-speed car chases...even if they're not in them.
It's all about the YOU COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE DRIVING THAT FAST AND CRAZY factor.
Past the car chase, I say kudos and congrats for nabbing them...
Not such a good idea to toss them in a trunk...yeah...that's, 10 times out of 10, a kidnapping charge.
Best to just call 911 and hold them at gunpoint till the cops arrive...

JOne wrong doesn't make a right either.  People who have been wronged will attempt to right the wrong; they would not be people if they didn't. They can rarely afford to be scrupulous about the means they will use. They will use such means as come to hand. Neither, in the main, will they distinguish one oppressor from another, nor see through to the root principle of their oppression.

It's a big deal if somebody needs that car to get to/from work, and their financial position means that it will be a big deal if they have to buy another car.  And it's not always the higher-end cars that are stolen.

/Back in '97, one of our family cars was almost stolen from the airport.

Yes, my car was stolen.  I bought another one.  Of course, I have never spent more than $2500 on a car, since I like to intimidate other drivers.  But if you spent a lot on a car, wouldn't you insure it?  Then, brand new car, right?  Seems like if I had an expensive car, I'd be hoping it would be stolen and driven off a cliff.

If they wanted to punish this kid, they'd tie him to a chair, keep his eyes open "Clockwork Orange" style, and have him watch the entire 2017 Browns season.

He'd be begging for mercy by the start of the second game.

My apartment was burglarized and I would have beat the living daylights out of the punks if I caught them in the act and worried about the consequences later.  I felt violated.  My roommate brought home a three foot length of 1" round stock steel from work and leaned it against the wall at the top of the stairs for the next time they tried it.

"Your honor, I didn't mean to knock his head off.  I just grabbed the closest thing to defend myself and...well, it's so damn heavy that once I started swinging, I couldn't stop."

2018-03-08 11:46:03 AM
I kind of sympathize with the people.  They brought the kids to the police, so they clearly thought they were doing the 'right thing'.  If someone stole my car... oh boy you bet I'd be mad. Still, there is a certain amount of common sense that was lacking here.

Well, for the insurance?  I always just get the minimum liability insurance, but doesn't theft insurance buy you a Brand! New! Car!?  Isn't that the point?  Anyway, I have to be at work in 3 hours, so I'm going to pound my drink and crash.  Later.

I see at least  couple of felonies committed here.
The men got out of cars, pulled out guns and told the teens: "You stole the wrong car...," according to police reports. Barnes then fired several gunshots into the car, police reports and court records say.
Barnes and Ware then ordered the teens out of the car at gunpoint, according to police. They punched the two teens, knocking them to the ground, then stomped on them, according to police.

Exactly!  They are likely victims of popular culture and lack of intelligence.  They've seen this in all kinds of movies, and nothing happens to Clint Eastwood or Wesley Snipes!  They were probably surprised as hell that you can't beat the f*ck out of people who deserve it, as long as you do the right thing, and give them to the cops afterward.
