That's a commercial vehicle--styling is irrelevant, and it's all about functionality.  These monstrosities, on the other hand, purport to be passenger vehicles intended to be marketed to consumers, so apparently someone must think they are not aesthetically unpleasing. However, those persons quite obviously are either insane or blind, or possibly both.

i mean, its a work truck with some very specific requirements for functionality that don't include aerodynamics, going fast or appealing to a consumer who needs aesthetics to show off to their peers. it doesn't look all that different than a fedex or UPS truck.

2018-03-07 09:57:55 PM
Right, because the current USPS delivery vehicles are the paragons of beauty. Function > form in this particular case.

I drive a cube. The body shape makes the sound system sound more impressive than it actually is. I can fit dozens of russian hookers inside of it. Side opening rear door is neat. Road noise not so much. Has a huge amount of legroom and just as much field of view. You would not know these things unless you drove one. In ten years it will be worth more than a top of the line mustang just for the scarcity factor alone.

/am legally insane. OCD, shapes, numbers, everything
//legally allowed to own an ak47, law12, half a dozen handguns, and have a ccw permit
///care almost as much about aesthetics as I would if you died right now reading this
////one of my four numbers if 4
//would totally own each and every vehicle pictured thusfar
//willing to take "ugly" cars off of people's hands for free so ugly people can feel beautiful again
//one of my other numbers is seven

the Dodge Caravan, the original minivan, was set up by the manufacturer to be classified as a non-passenger vehicle. This allowed Chrysler - and all those who copied them - to make their little vans cheaper. think of how many millions of these minivans have been sold over the years. the bulk of them are bought to haul children around. shame on the auto makers. shame.

I don't think its overall shape is too bad, but it is definitely over-styled like all Toyota's nowadays. However I have driven one, and Toyota somehow managed to turn the color beige into a car.

Why in the hell is a Turkish company prototyping a USPS vehicle?

I mean, I know protectionist policies are USUALLY a bad thing, but Turkey? We can't even guarantee that they can even get shipped here by the time the order is ready to start delivery. WTF?

Oh, and yeah, it's like a box truck farked a smart car and the result was missing chromosome.

Yeah subby, God forbid a utility truck look... utilitarian.

2018-03-07 10:15:57 PM
It looks a lot like I'd expect a one-off prototype to look where the designers are more interested about it showing off its functionality. Even its color scheme seems to be built around selling its ruggedization features -- if it's in black, it's showing something off to sell some aspect of ease of maintenance and repair. The huge black bumper, the black plastic over the driver's compartment that'll pop back into place if it hits an overhang, the black plastic side skirts, etc.

A friend of mine that drove one for a while (it was gifted to him by a family member) referred to it as the "PT Loser". I suspect he was right.

How long lifed is the requirement? It would probably be easier just to pick some existing hybrid and up spec the brakes. $40k for a 5-6 year vehicle with common replacement parts.

Maybe if they gave mailmen cooler rides, they could charge more for delivering a letter and the company would do better. Eventually being a mailman would be a desirable job. They would be able to pick and choose from among only the best letter carriers. Your mail would never be late and you'd get tasty suprises in your mailbox along with your mail.

They probably want similar to the LLV's 20-30 years. The postal service doesn't like buying vehicles.

Hey. I drive the tonka car known as the Honda Element, the four speed version at that, and I love my freaking car. Enough I just paid to have a second engine shoved into it.

Don't get me wrong, I have complaints. Whoever chose an 11gal gas tank on a four speed needs to be kissed with a baseball bat. Similarly, the moon roof placement is battynuggets. But it's a solid vehicle that's handled well in ice, slush, snow, and a friggin tropical storm while on a bridge. I can fit half a hardware store in the back when I fold the seats up. It whips into and out of parking spots like it's half the size it is. It's taken a beating, long hard drives and miles, and still starts. Also, the best stock stereo I've ever had in a car.

/transmission is next
//then everything will be replaced, I'm pretty sure
///2004 with over 220,000 miles on it now

That isn't black paint. The exterior is entirely upholstered. In black Naugahyde. How they came straight from the factory. Seriously.

Funnily enough, this isn't even the ugliest car Mohs produced.

You of all farkers should know a piece of sh*t when you see it.
