No. The didn't get to ask questions. The coward was afraid of them. Educated children frighten her.

Yes, they were horrible to her. Not only did they ask questions at her press conference, they actually expected answers. Silly kids.

The actual members of the Cabinet haven't really bailed yet... the exits are all just "office staff" or sub-people.   I guess if you are in the line of succession you might be thinking about how many people in front of you might have "dirty hands".

"Let's be clear. I think to say 'arming teachers' is an oversimplification and a mischaracterization, really," DeVos told reporters. "The concept is for those schools and those communities that opt to do this ... is to have people who are expert in being able to defend, and having lots and lots of training in order to do so."

For once I agree with DeVos. She said it herself. This is all about selling lots more guns (money for the gun lobby and the NRA via new gun purchases, the Round Up pricing program and new memberships for the NRA) and lots more training classes (more money for the NRA).

It's a mischaracterization to claim this is about school safety or reducing mass shootings. It's about increasing monies for the gun lobby and the NRA.

They are farking ghouls.

And then she handed out her brother's (Erik Prince) business cards, got into her car and drove away.

Other students said they wanted to meet with DeVos because they want to discuss school safety with her.

I'm sure Betsy will listen attentively and then do whatever she wants to anyways. I really hope she's dumb enough to tell the students that they need armed teachers in the schools in front of cameras.

Can you imagine the cost of insurance for whoever is the designated in-school one-person SWAT team?  More likely than not they'll just be the first target and if they get caught off guard what the hell is the plan?

She wants to make charter schools accessible so more parents have that option.  If the Public schools are sub par then they will have less in attendance.

If a public school has to close because it is a crappy school, so be it.

I like his tweet about how government is getting on the way of mental health care. He sounds like a delight. . . by which I mean he sounds like the kind of obnoxious faux-intellectual nitwit we can expect to be sitting on front of a table that says 'male privilege does not exist; prove me wrong'.

If I'm an underpaid teacher, and someone provides me with a firearm and instructions to defend my school, I think I'd hock the gun and take some cash. The odds of ever needing it are incredibly slim, and the odds of doing something useful in that situation are infinitesimally small, so I'd prefer the $400.

You gotta admit, it would have been more interesting if all the striking teachers in West Virginia marched on the capital with AR-15s. Might have been a shorter strike. Then again, being West Virginia, they might have met up with Pinkertons. Except in this timeline Betsy DeVos would have sent in Blackwater Mercs.

No she wants to funnel charter school funds to her friends who run the charter school lobby.  The one that already set up offices in New York.

Her charter school initiative ruined schools in Michigan, and made it easier to keep what they consider the "undesirables" out.  They do not want people with intelligent thought.  They want worker bees who think their betters and Jesus are the law of the land.

I'm pretty sure there are no guns allowed on the Capitol grounds.

But the same people that made that law have no problem proposing a bill to force college campuses in the state to allow students to be armed.

Cowardly knaves.

She wants to make charter schools accessible so more parents have that option.give white Christian parents the option of getting their children away from those people.  If the Public schools are sub par then they will have less in attendance.
Public schools in areas predominantly inhabited by those people are chronically and systematically starved of funding by design.
If a public school has to close because it is a crappy school, so be it. The fact that the only schools that will be left for those people to attend when all the public schools close won't accept any of those people is by design.

There, fixed that for you. And I've had waaaay to many of you voucher dumbasses admit exactly that to me for you to make any argument to the contrary.

I see you never paid attention in school. I blame your idiot parents.
In 1785, John Adams wrote, "The whole people must take upon themselves the education of the whole people and be willing to bear the expenses of it. There should not be a district of one mile square, without a school in it, not founded by a charitable individual, but maintained at the public expense of the people themselves."

Here's some information from the US Department of Education on why your position is pants-on-fire-on-head potato:
