Cheerleaders might have swellings.

Feverish cheerleaders were quoted as saying, "Brrr.  It's cold in here."

A high school friend got mumps as a teen. One risk factor of him having it so late: sterility.

The event spanned 3 days and 2 nights.

Lots of opportunities for cheerleader-on-cheerleader action there, and lots of potential infections on the field and off.

How did they find out one person was infected?  When did they know?

Needs more deets.

Pretty sure that mumps only causes orchiditis, not whatever the equivalent thing is for the ovaries.

Mumps is infectious 5 days before any symptoms show, and is contagious for a week after symptom onset, and the typical infected person will infect about 5 others (assuming no vaccinations).

So it's really good at spreading in vulnerable populations.

/Not as good as measles, it's infectious a week on both sides of symptoms, and 1 infected will infect about 15 others.

Only if they're male. Late mumps infection only causes sterility in men.

I visited Texas recently and nearly everyone i met had a phlegmy cough I have since started to refer to as the Texas crud. If any of those folks were exposed to the mumps god help anyone who hasn't been immunized.

I worked with a guy a long time ago who was trying to get a job on that show ("why?" I asked him..).
They had him do a test scene - layout, or key frames or something. I can't remember how it worked, but they got back to him and said he wasn't on-model enough. I told him to take it as a compliment. Those characters are so specifically poorly designed you'd have to really suck to not accidentally improve their look when drawing them. Of course, MacFarlane's strength is playing to idiots, so what do you expect, really?  I don't envy his success or anything - he's certainly figured something out - but good lord the guy's contribution to culture is a huge net loss - and that includes his pointless covers of Frank Sinatra songs.
