I thought it would be MUCH more expensive to travel in Canada the past two summers. But it was rather not. And it was entirely enjoyable seeing the Hudson Bay and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Yes, come on up!
Bad news for us is the lower CND $, but the good news for Americans is more for your dollar.

The lower currency is also another incentive NOT to visit the US as long as Trump is the president.
For many of us, we look at direct flights to Mexico as a better option to spend our vacation money, or, we explore our own beautiful country.

Once I was on a cross-country Greyhound bus. And some young couple and their 4 year old kid who kept talking about Justin Bieber. And I just happened to have a Canadian beaver nickel on me because someone back in Texas profited on the exchange rate. Anyway, I gave the nickel to the kid telling him that Justin Beaver is so popular in Canada that they put a beaver on their nickel.

So yesterday after buying smokes(YES I KNOW) I glanced down an the change in my palm and noticed the new(temporary, we're always fooling around with designs) nickel.
Had to laugh.
Shopkeeper on the other side of the counter: "Hmm?"
Me: "See the new nickel design?" I show her:

Me with sadface: "I think the beaver got run over" :[
Her, smiling: "Roadkill."

God I hate this minimalist "art". The USPS Year of the Dog stamp is a Pokemon Snake-plant with the catlike dog all but invisible, or possibly being poison vapor coming out of the leaves.

I used to live along the border and began dabbling in the dark arts about 11 years ago.
My dating pool of Canadian women was limited to only three but I ended up marrying one.  I found that Canadian women seem to be more comfortable, grounded, and with fewer hang ups than the American women I dated.
Granted this could be due to my age and that I was dating women in their thirties rather than mid twenties as I was when I was dating American women prior. It just seemed to me that they are more relaxed.
While your experience may vary I strongly suggest if given the opportunity to date a Canadian.

A friend of mine is in a "mixed marriage"...he's American, and she's originally from Canada.  It was funny to see them go back and forth on Facebook during the USA vs. Canada gold medal game in women's hockey.  And it was even more amusing when somebody else cracked a joke about calling Canadians "syrup sucking moose jockeys".

I wouldn't mind picking up a summer home in Kelowna with that sort of exchange rate.  Too bad that the B.C. foreign buyers tax applies to that part of the Okanagan.

I sure hope you stopped at Gros Morne.

Mrs. Eel and I honeymooned on Newfoundland a couple of months before 9/11 (we came from away right before Come From Away was a thing). We picked it because we wanted someplace where we could do a lot of hiking and wasn't going to be screaming hot in July...nailed it.

/got a 60-cent exchange rate, too
