Thanks, Obama...

Brief article explaining the financial crisis timeline, which started on Feb of 2007.

A link showing the fear and panic from a few newspaper headlines during the financial crisis.

Obama took over the White House 01/20/2009 with the financial crisis in full mode. On the same day, GOP members met for a 4-hour dinner to discuss a plot campaign of obstruction against Obama. Party over country.

The US GDP performance started to go into positive ground soon after... and basically remained in positive territory throughout his administration.

Or having Eric Cantor and other GOP members discussing in late 2008 (before Obama even took over the WH) that "if Obama is for it, we have to be against it".

A list of a few jobs bills the GOP-led Senate have blocked

One in particular that should offend our troops coming back since it seems the GOP-led Senate were too busy blocking a veterans jobs bill.

Or having Mitch McConnell Admits That Republicans Took America Hostage and that his number one priority is to make sure President Obama is a one-term president... instead of focusing what his party could do to help with the economic crisis.

Or the Tea Party Nation urged small business owners to not hire people in order to make Obama look bad

Or when a company with company policies about not hiring until Obama is gone based on nothing to do with the basic supply and demand process for his business goods.

Or having the GOP blocked a 10 percent tax break for small businesses that hires new employees.

Even so, the job market did improve, as these old links prove. I included them on purpose to show that the job recovery has been happening for a while now. Read all about it...

Private-sector job growth biggest in 3 years

Stealth signs of a stronger job market

Biggest unemployment rate improvement in nearly 28 years

Small businesses ramp up jobs

Jobs: 2 hopeful signs

Stealth jobs boom: 6 months, 2 million jobs

Jobless claims plunged last week to a nearly four-year low

Manufacturing jobs boom is for real

If you are unemployed or underemployed, you don't have a 4 year degree (or higher) and blame Obama for your situation, then maybe you should get a college degree. The unemployment rate for people with 4 (or more) years is less than 3%. Get a degree. It is not the Government's fault you don't have the necessary skills to compete in today's world. The Government can even help you pay for it (via student loans, grants, GI Bill etc.).

Trump may be President, but the Republican Congress can pass bills to block Trump's tariffs. Congress gave the President the power to raise them on "national security" issues. Congress can move to stop the tariffs as unnecessary.

Of course, Republicans won't do a thing though. They've made their bed and are in for a bumpy night.

My only quibble is this. I put my house on the market in late 2005, and it finally sold in March 2006, with closing at the end of April that year. I made a tidy profit from the sale.

Anyway, the first week of May I'm driving around, and with my house having been on the market I'd gotten into the habit of looking at for sale signs in front of other people's homes. That week I started noticing "price reduced" going up on all the signs around my area. Homes stopped selling at that point. It probably took until early 2007 for the whole thing to shake out, but the signs were there 6-9 months earlier.

Also, we've had quite a cold spell this past week, which just goes to show that the idea of Global Warming is just a bunch of Alex Jones conspiratorial schizo-derp-phrenic nonsense. wait. It seems that someone thinks a trade deficit is the same as debt. Trump appears to believe that our trading partners stole $800 billion from us last year and there's now an $800 billion hole in our bank account.

Unfortunately, most of his advisors and supporters are equally stupid so nobody will correct him and hell just merrily keep driving the economy bus towards the cliff with his ignorance.

Being stupid isn't an advantage, America. Somehow you convinced yourself otherwise. Of course you want educated elite guys running the country. Otherwise this stupid shiat happens.

Solution: Vigorous smear campaign to show that Trump is a secret Manhattan liberal whose policies actually benefit Democrats, and he's been working with Hillary Clinton all along, which is why he decided not to jail her, since she's clearly guilty. His departing staff provide evidence that they're driven out once they discover Trump's game. It's so obvious. I mean, we've seen the photos of him schmoozing with the Clintons. It really needs to get out.

I'm not wearing tin foil on my head - but I have a concern about midterms.  If Dems win enough seats to make a difference, Trump will be the loudest "rigged" "fake" "Deep State" cheerleader out there.  He WILL undermine the integrity of the elections and his people will react...poorly.  And, based on several of his 'policies', he tends to go scorched earth when he doesn't get his way.  Either we're stuck with this continuing shiatshow, or the divide will widen.  If that happens, we sure as hell can't expect Trump to try to bridge that gap and unite people.  Putin just has to be laughing his ass off at how well this is turning out.

I don't know if Trump's numbers are correct.  I am assuming they are not.

But I'm sure he isn't factoring in the effects of computers and other technologies that have replaced workers and factories (as well as the GOP-led efforts to outsource everything possible for cheap labor.)

It's okay though as all those lost jobs will be replaced with coal mining positions.

JerkStore: It seems that someone thinks a trade deficit is the same as debt. Trump appears to believe that our trading partners stole $800 billion from us last year and there's now an $800 billion hole in our bank account.

THIS has been my takeaway every time I've heard Trump's nasal, sing-song whine on the radio talking about it. It doesn't matter whether he's crying about how "unfair" our trade agreements are with Canada, Europe or "Jina," his song remains the same. Somehow he's conflating "They sell us more stuff than they buy from us" with "They stole a bunch of our money because Obama's a pussy!"

Also, as a side note, I'm 51 years old and have never in my life seen a president constantly - CONSTANTLY - sh*tting on the previous administration the way Republican President Donald Trump does daily.

You're right. Though Republicans have been shiatting on Carter ever since he first took office. No president, not even Nixon, has been more consistently and constantly portrayed as a complete disaster. But Gasbag is more like a stalker when it comes to Obama. It's not even political, it's the gaping hole where his sense of self ought to be.

hugram: Thanks, Obama...

You and your "facts".  Fake news dude.  NAFTA is so lopsided, it's great Trump will do something, we don't know yet.  Also, Trump will bring back the lost 700,000 plus coal jobs and hundreds of thousands of steel jobs.  Great paying jobs with pensions and white glove benefits, believe me.  This is John Barron and I approve this message.

That is Trump in a nutshell.

Idle vainglorious boast out of one side of his mouth, refusal to take any blame with the false, imaginary credit.

He is a megalomanic, a narcissist so deeply enamoured of himself that he wants all the icing without ever admitting that the cake is a lie, or going to the trouble to take a hand in baking the cake. He is the anti-Little Red Hen. He hands off enormous responsabilities so he can take credit if the pions succeed and hand out blame, contempt and fury if they faili. That is why he appoints people around he that he knows regardless of their competence or merits. He sets them up to fail to redound to his own imaginary glory when he claims he, and only he, can do things right.

He gaslights everybody to feed his ego and crush his family, wives, friends, pions, and allies. Nobody is safe from his censure, few ever have a fleeting moment of his flattery or approval.

When he is whining, he is happy. And only then.

But that is not how power or truth or anything works.

To be able to take credit you must be able to take blame. To take responsibility, you will have to accept both blame and credit aplenty. You are bound to be wrong sometimes. Grown-ups acknowledge when they are wrong and repent and reform. Big Floating Baby Heads never acknowledge a wrong and therefore have no right to claim anything.

An old maxim says that it is not to succeed. Everybody else must fail. This is egotism, narcissim and Trump is the most narcissitic bastid ever to be born on home plate and to run the bases backwards and claim victory.

For the record, I am not shouting Boo-urns! Boo-urns! Even a boo from the Goose does not express my contempt for the Trumps of this world.

Blaming all the President's since Bush I for the deficit is beyond retarded. First, leaving out Reagan is stupid. Secondly, Clinton left a surplus. If GWB had used the surplus to pay off the debt before he decided to return it to the American people (or its rich people more exactly), our debt would had been infinitely smaller by the time we had hit the inevitable cyclical economic slow down... instead we got an even bigger clusterfark which was even worst. But in either case, having paid down our debts would have helped us to growl it again with less of a problem when needed to spend ourselves out of a downturn. And to top it off, the aholes at the Trump admin have now increased funding while giving another huge tax cut. The GWB tax cut didn't cause economic growth but this one totally will (pinkie swear). There's just no way we're past the point if reduced returns on the larger curve because that's the only curve that always provides net benefits.

hugram: Thanks, Obama...

I've been talking to conservative relatives about the economy and their responses mirrored that of a recent NPR interview in Texas ahead of the primary:  the economy was horrible under Obama, and magically started doing better as soon as Trump started getting in office.  They truly believe Trump passed the largest tax cut in history, and then more jobs started appearing in manufacturing, and existing workers started getting paid more.

I tried to show the job growth chart showing the crash and then steady rise in employment and economic growth, and that the current economy was just a continuation of the same trend from the past 7 years, but who are you going to believe, President Trump or those lying liberal eggheads? They can go to any right-wing site and find lots of statistics to back up their claims, so liberals must be lying.
