Awe. Some.  She was the best part of season 1.

I hope this show keeps going.  It's f'ing fantastic and a great take on the character.  I'm worried Dan Stevens is blowing up too big to keep around for long.

NeedlesslyCanadian: FOX, not Marvel. At least until the sale is finalized.

Marvel Television is one of the producers, so this one is kinda both.

Looking forward to it.  The first season was fantastic.  Not everyone's cup of tea, if you're expecting a linear narrative that's easy to access.  Heavy on non-explained cues as to what's actually going on (color, clothing, camera angle, background noise, etc), but it's fun to pull apart as you watch it.

Looks like season 2 will be just as solid as the first.

Also, I love how they can visually make a show like this 'dark' without being dark-dark.  As in, even the scenes that are psychedelic or involve past trauma's can be full of vivid colors, rather than just EVERYTHING IS BLACK AND GRAY AND SAD like a freaking DC movie. They have solid usage of vivid reds, deep greens,  and all other colors throughout the show's most emotionally dark scenes; and those colors are used well.  Plus the writing was just... engaging.

This show has a chance to knock Iron Fist off of Marvel's "Best written TV show" podium.

Rachel Keller is a classic, 1970's-style, All-American beauty. I'd watch her in anything.

Also, need more Flight of the Concords guy in a Diving Helmet.

I only remember comic book Legion from the run-up to Age of Apocalypse, where he shows up and gets Dad killed. So don't know about Patrick Stewart,

Color was typically the number one indicator of intent during most scenes (especially use of red and green).  Going grey and washed out would have been like removing vocal tone.  It's that critical to what's going on.

Iron Fist set the standard for Marvel shows.

Sort of how Lars Ulrich from Rush set the standard for drumming world wide.

I liked Iron Fist, people just like to pile the hate on it.  It was better than the first season of Luke Cage, though I'll admit Jessica Jones and both seasons of DD were better.  None of them were bad though.

I liked the first season of Legion, though it was a bit loopy.  I was hoping there'd be a little less 'inside-the-head' for season 2, but we'll see how they handle it.

2018-03-07 02:05:57 PM
I think Fargo, especially seasons 1 and 2, are better, especially in the writing, but Legion is by far the best visual show on TV. The sets, costumes, camera work, everything is absolutely perfect. Unbelievably good. Jean Smart is good, but not great, they need to let her work some more on her character. She was farking perfect in Fargo. And we're also getting the finale of the Americans where Paige Jennings changes her name to Hope Howell and works for Donald Trump.

My oldest son and I really like this show (he's 18). Last Halloween he wanted to create a papier-mâché mask of The World's Angriest Boy in the World. I was going to help him until realized that from a distance it looked too much like a Hitler costume. (remember this was shortly after the Charlottesville protest).

The first half of Luke Cage was great, but then they killed off the interesting villain and replaced him with a completely boring one.

It looks like a Hitler costume from close-up, too.

I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. It if wasn't, they screwed up. Every time he appeared, I though "There'shiatler".

You can't use the "Hitler mustache" without people thinking of Hitler. Unless you are Charlie Chaplin. Which means you need to wear the hat.

I liked season 1 but I have to admit that I was tired of flawed narrator tv shows before I even started watching it. The only thing that kept me watching was the use of colors and general cinematography.

If it came out a few years earlier it would seem fresher.

Marvel is really doing a great job with their properties, with a some exceptions. And I am a big fan of both DC and Marvel (I've been waiting decades to see all my favorites on-screen). But after seeing the deleted scene from JL where The Mango is about to race Superman, no thanks (I have yet to see JL).

It's not millennials doing that, it's Gen Z or whatever the fark the next generation is. Us millennials are already adults. I'm a millennial and I've got the better part of half a million tons worth of bombs dropped on other countries with my signature on them, millions of firearms wandering the country that I had a hand in making and 20 years of being a part of the work force in one way or the other under my belt. You think I would have made it in ANY manufacturing environment saying stuff like that?

Maybe if you Gen Xers and Baby Boomers hadn't had such a hardon for sticking it to the education budget and focusing on new stadiums rather than textbooks from enough distributors to make sure they weren't written by those crazy farks down in TEXAS of all places, those poor kids would have received enough of an education to know how to spell. Before you sit there and biatch about how our (as of yet to be named) newest generation is communicating amongst one another, maybe you should take a deep and introspective look at what your opinion about education and how much of your precious money it's worth for the past 20 farking years.

You want to know why you don't understand them and why we millennials do? Because we saw it happening, you've been lying to them their entire farking lives and they've decided to rebel by developing a form of communication that you can't parse so they don't get punished for doing what was effectively the "bullshiat cough" 20 years ago. They're growing up with an advantage that we didn't have: google right at their fingertips. They can spot you in a lie the instant you utter it. They have friends from all the nations that you demonize as "socialist" or "communist" and decry as havens for laziness and slums. They've seen all the porn that you consume and what nasty shiat you're into and what perversion sexual shame leads to. They can see right through it all, and you're pissed that they can.

So quit blaming this on Millennials. These are the kids that decades of your attitude towards their education, their work prospects, and the financial security of their nation hath wrought. These are OUR kids, not yours. Don't be surprised when we don't give a flying fark if they give you the double-bird when you talk about your social norms and "definitions." But you do not get to put that shiat on US.

You ARE a millennial. These kids were born after the towers fell. That's whatever the generation AFTER millennials are. I'm 32 and I've been getting called a millennial since the term was first coined when I was around 20. These kids are Gen Z, they need to come up with a new farking word for them or start realizing that anybody over 30 is Gen Y.

And only a dumbass thinks a kid is a jackass for the terms they use with friends his age. Want to go over what OUR vocabulary was back in middle and high-school?

"Dropped" is a term from like the farking 1980s or earlier (the metaphor is based on how a physical record-player works), how old exactly do you think the average Farker is that that would be "within this generation"?  Because I hate to break it to you but even by fairly generous definitions of 'generation' that was two of them ago.

Similarly, "cultural appropriation" is from George Lipsitz, at least the common-knowledge version, which would make it, what, early 1990s at the latest?  Also he was born in 1948 so both of you have an absolute shiat definition of "millennial".
