Frosted Flakes was my favorite as a kid. My teeth rot these days thinking about it.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my cereal of choice these days. Sometimes Lucky Charms (oddly enough though, I hated that one as a kid).

I need to watch carbs though for health reasons, so none of these are "daily."  But it's interesting how many "healthy" cereals are actually much worse for me than the sugary kids cereals. (Strictly speaking of carbs and not vitamins/minerals, etc).

I will occasionally buy cereal to snack on at work.  I usually try to go with something that doesn't overload on sugar, but when IDGAF, it is Lucky Charms.  Those stupid marshmallows are addicting.

When I was a kid, Coco Krispies was awesome, both for the sugar intake and the chocolate milk that was left in the bowl.

Used to eat a lot of crappy cereal when I was a kid.  Nowadays, my weekday breakfasts are a 2:1 mix of bran flakes and some variety of Trader Joe's Os (their take on Cheerios).  At my age, well into my 50s, fiber is vitally important to happiness.

I had switched to granola thinking that was better/healthier than the Honey Bunches, but then I started looking at the details and almost every granola out there has 2x as much sugar than even sugar coated cereals. I would have been better off eating Fruit Loops.

I like cheerios with milk and banana slices usually. Sometimes I buy the honey nut or apple cinnamon ones as a treat but end having a bowl of cereal for lunch or supper and run out of cereal for breakfast.

'No you can't have Cookie Crisp cereal because you're NOT eating cookies for breakfast and that's FINAL!  Now grab a box of Super Sugar Crisp and let's go'

70's mom logic I wasn't able to out maneuver.  We still chuckle about it since it was all sugar down the line.

I'm not a cereal eater these days, but in my youth I'd grab whatever had the coolest prize in it at the time.  Heck I still have a pile of metal license plates that for a while came in boxes of Honeycomb.

Last time I was at my parents' house, I found a cassette tape I ordered from Mini Buns.  One side was "Face the Music" by RTZ, and the other side was "Walk Through Fire" by Bad Company.

That didn't hit the market until 1999. Four years after Watterson turned his attention to other things.

Aye, I was thinking of the second choco-crunch cereal I ate in the past. But before that, it was this:

Never had the sugared cereals as a kid.  We had Cheerios (ugh), Corn Flakes, Wheaties, Chex...once in a while, Kix.  Pretty much whatever was on sale.

As a young kid in the 70s I'd see adds on TV for a cereal called Freakies. I lived in southern Ontario and it was only sold in the U.S., so I could never get the stuff. One summer we visited my great aunt and uncle who lived in Birmingham, Michigan and I pestered my mom for a box for the whole trip. She loathed sugar cereals but this was one of the rare occasions where she gave in. When I finally tried them they tasted like crap.

I also remember loving the short lived Cinnamon Crunch which had Jean Lafoote on the cover; it got
re-branded as Cinnamon Toast Crunch a few years later, but it wasn't anywhere near as good:

I avoid Kix. I don't want to have to be running because some kid named Robert is singing:

All the other kids with the pumped up Kix
You'd better run, better run, out run my gun

I don't know how you pump up Kix, but haven't we had enough shootings already over cereal?

Oooh, I've got a Grape Nuts story!

When I was a kid Saturday morning cartoons were still a thing. One saturday when I was about 6 or 7 I got up extra early and started watching. Mom was still in bed so I made my own breakfast: A bowl of Grape Nuts (smothered in sugar). After the first bowl I was still hungry so I had a second bowl and about an hour later I had a third. Soon enough the rumbling started and I spent most of the afternoon in the bathroom.

/Looking back I'm surprised I didn't prolapse and shiat my intestines out.
