Remember these guys? They were the late 1980s tag team, the Powers of Pain. They looked tough. They looked formidable, but every time they faced someone good, they always lost. They couldn't get over on Demolition. They could beat the Road Warriors/Legion of Doom. No chance against the Rockers or the Hart Foundation. They looked menacing, but they won exactly Jack squat in the WWF.

The Houston Rockets are the NBA equivalent of the Powers of Pain. Chris Paul the Warlord & James Harden the Barbarian. Neither have ever made an NBA Finals. Neither have gotten over on superior opponents. Last year, Harden got demolished sitting on the bench & Chris Paul was making another early exit in April.

Yes, the Rockets look tough, but let's be real. They're going to lose to the (Ultimate) Warriors. Again.

Solid test of that theory on Friday.

Doesn't "might not lose for the rest of the season" apply to most teams in most sports during most seasons?

No.

Blazers just won their 8th in a row.  Pelicans their 9th in a row.  Warriors are at 6.

Friday's Blazers vs. Warriors game should be fun.

Well, we did sign Logan Morrison, but our pitching is still suspect

This text is now purple: Harden has made a Finals.

Let the record show that the Thunder had three locks for the Hall of Fame and only got to a single Finals because the owner didn't want to pay a tax.

Even then, though, I remember watching that Finals, and it really just confirmed to me how good Micheal Jeffery Jordon was.  Absolutely demolished Durant.  After it was over, I bought half-a-dozen pairs of Jordans, just to be on the safe side.

I will be in Houston next week and will be at the Monday night game against San Antonio.

The Suites at the Toyota Center are very nice!

To be fair Westbrook and Harden could never have worked together super effectively

Also, I'm beginning to think this Harden fellow with the goofy beard is really good as basketball.

yeah, with Russell Westbrook, not Chris Paul. Chris Paul might be one of the statistically greatest point guards in the game, but he had Deandre Jordan and Blake Griffin forf*ckingever and accomplished exactly dick with them.

I'll give you Blake Griffin is overrated, but Deandre Jordan is one of the most effective pure centers in the league right now. He's the reason Chris Paul has the assist stats he does.

All the greats had to lose first, at least in the Jordan era, onward.    Losing is how you learn how to win.
I have seen improvement in Harden every single year.   His game has been top-notch for many seasons, but the last few seasons i've seen improvement in his leadership and game smarts.   I definitely would not count the Warriors out.

Wait. So the Rockets used to be from another professional basketball organization, and the NBA is jobbing them out to their teams that have always been with them as a means to promote the brand?

He is a total waste more than 3 feet from the rim and at the line.  Career 44% from the line and 15% from the field outside of 3 feet.

I think Chris Paul made Deandre more than the other way around

To be fair, everybody beat the Rockers, they were jobbers.  People forget that because of the career HBK had.  That said,  you're spot on about the other tag teams they faced, I think besides the Rockers the only other team they got over on were the bushwhackers.

Rockets are kicking butt this season and they beat the Warriors but besides Harden, the rest of the team is having an "overachieving" season.  I just don't see them beating the Warriors in a 7-game series.  When Harden starts playing hero ball, the Warriors double-team him and he's toast.  Also, Klay ruled over Harden the last time they met in the playoffs, he becomes predictable with that left-hand preference.   Also, who can freakin stand looking at Harden?  Just admit the beard is stupid and shave already.  Curry>Harden
