I suspect that the only people who are really interested in seeing this reboot are the original cast's creditors.

Aren't these sequels, not reboots since the original casts are coming back? Who cares, I never watched them when they were on originally.

Except I remember not being able to avoid hearing about John Goodman's character on Roseanne dying but apparently he's coming back. What up with that?

I'm hoping we see more reboots and revivals!

That show has not aged well. It's the "Father Knows Best" of the 1990s

It's a mashup of Roseanne and The Walking Dead.

What, they can't make Galaxy Quest 2?  Oh wait... that would be tricky without Alan Rickman..

Oh another show starring convicted drug dealer Tim Allen?

2018-03-07 07:31:05 AM
I'll watch this show if Wilson and Tim finally go at it through a hole in the fence.

Just a couple of dads just working on their yards...With a secret.

The Last Man Standing actor recently revealed that he's "very interested" in a Home Improvement reboot

So, that is nothing more than Tim Allen, who is still steaming over what was essentially his "HI 2.0" show "Last Man Standing" getting canceled, saying "Of course I'd do it again".

Not that a Netflix or someone else wouldn't likely take it just for the pub, but, it hasn't happened yet.

I was hoping for a Captain Power reboot.

:-(

2018-03-07 07:53:12 AM
I hated that show when it was on the air. Every episode was the same basic plot that you could time and drink to.
1. Intro with Tool Time. Tim hawks a product.
2. Tim does something stupid with product after giving it MORE POWER.
3. Tim goes home. Plot starts.
4. Plot rises. Tim is on Tool Time and repeats steps 1 and 2.
5. Tim gets advice from neighbor.
6. Tim farks up advice from neighbor
7. Tim resolves the plot's conflict in his own farked up way.
8. Episode ends.

I stopped watching the show when I realized it was a paint-by-numbers sitcom. It's real-life example of the South Park joke about Family Guy plots.
A good sitcom should not have the same plot, jokes, and beats in every episode.

At the time this show was popular, I recall guys walking around with branded Home Improvement shirts that said "WARNING:  BIG TOOL".  This was the early 90s before tool was popularized as an insult.  It was the middle-aged white guy equivalent of wearing an Engrish shirt.

Unfortunately, tool originally meant someone who is a pawn - basically a "tool" of a larger force.  By the late 90s, it just meant "dork" which is too bad.  It lost its panache.

At least we still have "toy".  That's a great insult.

I'd be okay with this, as long as it doesn't go off the conservatard deep end.

I got that.  That's what made it so funny.

I'll admit that I liked the original for about the first half of the first season, and then I got tired of it. Besides, without Wilson, what's the point?

The real reason why Last Man Standing was cancelled was because the contracts were up for renewal and ABC decided to ditch sitcoms for that night. If the contracts were not up for renewal, it would have been moved to another slot on another night. It was a way of Disney saving some money that they would rather spend on a crap-ton of reality shows that are cheaper to produce.

And just like the first incarnation I won't watch it.

I don't understand why they can't upgrade certain shows to reflect the changes in society. Cheers/bar, friends/coffeehouse, do something in an internet cafe pocking fun at the net and social media?
Where's the show featuring a quirky flight crew working for a budget airline, featuring different passengers, and also has guest celebrities playing themselves.
Maybe a show about a person who manages an apartment building with all kinds of crazy tenants.
Producers need to come up with settings where average quirky people do real life quirky things.
Used car dealers, Banks, fast food restaurants, factories, real estate agency.
They keep doing the same old hospital/Law firm/cop shows.

2018-03-07 09:38:25 AM
Bring it on. Loves me some Patricia Richardson.

Heh, that was the first thing I thought of. That movie was a waste of a perfectly good Walken. They should Bring him back in another one as a different villain.

They could do a show that really shows what IT is like. People messing around in a vendor meeting with the phone on mute, while the vendor rep drones on about the advantages of remote hosting. The excitement in the face of the junior engineer getting assigned 20 server reboots for Sunday at 2 am in order to apply a Windows security update. The junior engineer finally watching the last server restart successfully, and realizing the patch didn't take because she/he forgot to stop a service. Riveting stuff.

Funny how the same people who see "the market" as an all-knowing entity that wisely determines the value of things throw such a fit when said market deems them worthless.

"n, but created teen hearthrobs out of the actors who played Allen's sons,"

I don't think any of my sisters or friends growing up had posters of the other weird looking kids, so idk what the deal is with making that sentence plural other than trying to not hurt the feelings of the other guys.Tim Allen should crack down on the cuddling of those two snowflakes.

Ok, I will be the one who is fine with this. My kids like the original. It beats the hell out of constant "reality shows". If they can find a way to make it interesting, good for them. It is not like they are knocking good shows off the air.
