McLaren's troubles have been put in stark relief by Honda's generally reliable running with new partners Toro Rosso, the Red Bull junior team. Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly ended the day fifth fastest...

It would be deeply funny if this is the exact moment Honda got their act together and had a great engine...

/Not that Fernando would be laughing.

Spoiler alert.

Oil cartels win.

McLaren's problems have been with their batteries -- is that something that can be blamed on the engines?

Also, if anyone didn't see the documentary on Amazon, it's an interesting inside look at the disaster that was McLaren-Honda in 2017.

Thanks for not greening another garbage P-F1 article, I guess.

"Grand Prix Driver." Each episode is about 20 mins, so it's a quick binge-watch

I'm most of the way through episode 2, what a cluster with the car build.  But revisiting Alonso's crash at Australia to start the episode.  Damn, just damn.

I know! Dude, a little part of me didn't expect him to crawl out of the car in one piece -- even though I saw that live on TV when it happened.

On the one hand, I need to pick a farky color for F1 fans:  It'd be interesting to see what other topics/expertises/political positions they have 'round here.  On the other hand, it's kinda a waste to assign a color to, what, 6? 8? Farkers. ; )

Excellent suggestion! ... but then I'd have to move all my "consistently hilarious and/or insightful" Farkers, to whom I assigned that color at the very beginning.

On second thought:  These days, there are fewer of those than there are F1 fans 'round here.  Hrrrm....

There's Ferrari red, too. Or Force India pink. Renault yellow?

See, now, you're making me feel like a bad F1 fan.  Those went, thoughtlessly, to "idiot/troll" [inflammatory red; also makes it hard to read and easy to skip], "mod" [just hadn't used it yet], and "homebrewer" [yellow = beer].

Mercedes Silver Arrow = "unsure if dumbass, troll, or just contentious:  Skip and/or label more accurately at some point."   Red Bull Blue = "cop, or claims to be."

Don't think I've used much cyan yet... maybe, "blue skies = no passing = don't pass over these comments, cuz they're from an F1 fan"?  It's a stretch, but....

/ I may have put too much thought into this

Hang out in the F1 threads during the season.  There's more than a handful of us to be sure.

I've skimmed them (and really enjoyed them) in the past, but I TiVo everything and catch them sometimes a week later, so they're usually dead when I am past worrying about spoilers.

But, perhaps that's a habit that needs to change!  The unusual combination of insight and humor and snark that Fark can sometimes provide in topic-specific threads is what keeps me coming back to this joint....

They're fun except when Lewis' water carriers declare that the reason we don't want him to win is because of what he looks like, which typically happens a few times a season.

McLaren mango?

I'm going to give F1 one more try this year, but I honestly find it difficult watching after the first lap.

I try to make it to the first round of pit stops before I take a nap

And no Matchett or Hobbs to keep it interesting. Although Robin Miller at racer.com says Hobbo might make an appearance at the indycar race at Road America.

I haven't bothered to watch live for years.  Even if the race is on NBC I still wait and download Sky's commercial free feed.
