Yes, but I'm curious how the Panthers got ahold of the Stanley Cup.

Yeah it is.  Good on everyone who helped make it happen for them.

It's nice of the NHL to let the Panthers touch the Stanley Cup.

They had a bunch made up in '96 & have been gathering dust in a closet ever since....

/very cool thing they did

Its pretty cool they did this, but I'm a little perturbed they let them hoist it like that. I don't care what you've been through, you don't lift it over your head unless you won it...

It's not that surprising.

It's not like they're a Canadian team.

Maybe they borrowed it from Tampa Bay?

Also semi-CSB

A couple of buddies from HS worked at the Hartford Civic Center many many years ago when they had the NHL draft there. They were good friends with the security guys. They have pictures of them hoisting the cup, drinking beer out of it etc. I was jealous as hell to say the least.

BTW, shouldn't the PENGUINS have the opportunity to share the Cup with these kids?

How the fark do the Panthers have the right to be within 100 yards of it?

The NHL slipped and accidentally exposed who they've picked to win it this year.

The NHL really is the leader in community, feel-good, charitable interaction with the masses..  No contest!  Well done!

Because the Cup might actually be the property of the Hockey Hall of Fame so technically, they can do whatever they want with it.

Do you have to be horrible in every thread?

These kids went through some shiat that will change their lives and view of the world forever, yet you're mad because the Penguins, who have nothing to do with the Parkland area didn't do it?

Christ, what an asshole.

I love when people think I'm horrible. It's funny.

The Panthers are getting a huge amount of free undeserved PR out of something THEY didn't earn.

I care about these kids. Shouldn't they get to meet CHAMPIONS?

They don't care about meeting the Penguins. The Cup is what matters.

I got to see the Cup when I was a teen because Vlad Konstintinov brought it to the rink I played in. I didn't care who he played for, I was excited to see the Cup. It turns out having my pic taken with Vlad was the more important part in the end.

Shawn Thornton is the VP of Business Operations for the Panthers. His name is on it, twice. He has some pull.

Believe me, not a single one of these kids cares how it got there. The fact that they are on a magical run and going to the Nationals in Minn is awesome. This just makes it sweeter.

Do the previous winners get any say what happens once the new season starts? I kinda figured the cup goes back to the HoF on day one of the season.

Any argument is dumb anyway. The kids got to see something cool and I'm sure everyone involved was more than willing to make it happen.

No, not really. They can ask for it to be around for events, but the Cup doesn't belong to the champions or the NHL.

I spent a few hours with it and the Grey Cup (CFL trophy) a few years back. It travels a lot to fundraising events and the like.  It is likely touched by far more hands than you would think.

Good for them, using the kids this way. <- what fark thinks
