"I can't describe how awful I feel to leave you hanging," Madson read from the email.

Ok, so it was a side business some guy ran and then lost interest in. Nope, not buying that.

Why did he cash the check? The team had sample designs presented to the parents. They had to have communicated with the owner along the way. If he couldn't fulfill the order he should've just said so and ripped up the check.

But yeah, the lesson is, pay by credit card or on delivery if it's not an entity you're well familiar with.

Have you seen Kyle's socks?  They're about this tall.

Why was there nothing in the article about charges being filed?  Seems like fraud to me.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it sounds like he's the middle man and the manufacturer didn't deliver but if that's the case shouldn't every company carry insurance for that type of thing?

On the one hand, stealing from kids is low.

On the other hand, is there so little news in Washington that a $1,600 theft makes the news?

Wisconsin. This didn't make the news in Washington.

The bizarre part of this story is that a Wisconsin school decided it would be better to use an online business based in Washington - one with almost no online presence or reviews - to handle a school order instead of, say, a business in Wisconsin.

I don't want to blame the victims, as it's asinine what this Washington "business" is doing. However, this should be a lesson to the folks involved -  instead of constantly searching for bargains and using lowest price as the only KPI when it comes to a shopping decision, it might be better to make a more carefully considered choice in the future, with a business (regardless of location) that has a positive and verifiable track record.

Looks like he's dead and that's why he didn't fulfill the order.  And nobody has signed his guestbook.  http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/kyle-templeton-obituary?pid=1000000187454835&view=guestbook

Also, his address is listed here if any Snoqualmie area Farkers are interested in shaking him down.  Fark him up real nice.
