There is a lady in the trailers that doesn't seem to be part of the family that may be their Dr. Smith. No concrete evidence, just a guess.

"Dr. Smith (Parker Posey), plenty of intense action, and several scenes revealing the show's entirely reimagined Robot (which now is of a mysterious extraterrestrial origin).
"This is a true family adventure in the vein of the original Jurassic Park," says showrunner Zack Estrin"

A lot of Hollywoodspeak in that short paragraph.
Likes me some Parker Posey though.

I read Netflix as Nike and was wondering why they had an official shoe sponsor.  Then I remembered the cool Reeboks from Aliens.

Yeah, Parker Posey of Dazed and Confused fame.

Too bad, that's a good porn name. Sounds classy though so soft core.

Dr. Smith would have to "take a seat" in today's understanding of what relationship an unrelated adult should have with a child.

Yes.  Parker Posey is Dr. Smith.  But then again, any guy they tried would have never compared to Johnathan Harris.

Apparently instead of updating the Robot from Lost In Space, the designers got confused and made a new version of the androids from Space Truckers instead.

I'll check it out, but I'm not sold yet. I don't like the new robot design at all or its new mysterious origin angle. Not everything needs a big mystery.

I will restrain my outage until it is revealed that she IS NOT a Lesbian Eskimo Midget Albino.  And she better be left handed and have some strange hobbies like lowering children into open manholes.

Making Dr. Smith a woman makes a lot of sense.  It gets rid of the creepy pedophile vibe, and helps explain why Mr. Robinson doesn't shoot Dr. Smith early on.

But making Dr. Smith Parker Posey?  That's just farking genius.  I will watch this show for that alone.  She is always great as a villain, and she has this great ability to deliver any line as if she were saying "I cannot roll my eyes hard enough at how tedious I find you," which is perfect for the sort of smug snake, poison friend type villain that Dr. Smith is.

If it's genderbent, it could be performed by Liliana Mumy, Bill's daughter, who's had a successful voice acting career of her own.

Oh yeah, I was sceptical as hell until I saw this trailer, but this actually looks pretty good. They might wind up doing something dumb with "Robot" (combing the character with that of Bloop/Blarp could be either great or idiotic, we'll see) But it looks like it'll be great as long they don't trip over themselves with bad writing.

The smartest thing they can do is run as far away from the original source material as possible.  Lost In Space was cheesy as all hell, even for the 1960s.
