Nope. But it probably should be.

Well Penn State had golden opportunities but blew it in games that were winnable. Nebraska kind of sealed their fate and now it looks like the NIT is the best tournament they can get into.

At least we beat Ohio State three times this year.

UNC isn't making the Final Four if they don't improve against zone defenses.

Probably one of the dumber articles I've seen. Michigan is playing its best basketball, Purdue is not. Xavier is also playing really great basketball, plus they have a dynamic scorer in Bluitt. Virginia has a great defense but I would pick Xavier over them in terms of making it to a FF. I don't think you can count out Kansas, though this isn't their best year. Cincy is playing really good ball.

If they had picked like 12 teams instead of 8, it would have been a better article.

Actually KU is a #1 seed.

Good thing that list is alphabetical.  Otherwise I'd say a #171 ranking is way too high.

KU isn't playing like a traditional Bill Self team with a strong interior presence and a more stingy defense that's man-on-man. They've lost games in Allen Field House, more in this one season than in the past couple seasons combined.
But to say that they're not going to win because they're statistically similar to a streaky 2017 Iowa State team is ridiculous. That's like saying Duke won't win because they're stats are similar to a streaky East Bumfark University team. Even Iowa State fans know that comparison is crap. And the article he linked to, the conclusion was that Bill Self is a winning coach, even when things don't always go his way.
If he stuck to things like KU relying heavily on the 3-point shot instead of driving to the rim, underutilizing Adzibuke, not being strong with rebounding in their losses, or somewhat lackluster defense at times, that's different.

But I'm not even on a college basketball team.

Mine will be on that list Saturday afternoon when they lose their one-bid league championship game (unless they get upset tonight).

Cowboys swept the Jayhawks this year, that's good enough for me!

Pitt. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Use to be seriously hard to get tix for their games if you didn't have "a guy."

I 100% guarantee my alma mater will not win.  I would bet everything I have, including my soul....on that outcome.

Florida is going to pull their yearly run to the Elite Eight and then fold up like a cheap beach chair.

First time that ever happened to Self while in the Big 12.

Mine is on the list, but that it is starting to get paragraphs is enough for me.

Well, at least Seton Hall made the list of teams that got individual write-ups. Early in the season it looked like they were on their way to penetrating the Villanova-Xavier tier of the conference standings, earning a 3rd or 4th seed and maybe making a long run; but now they'll just be happy to get into the tournament and hope to win a game. It'll depend on injuries (top scorer Desi Rodriguez has missed the last two games -- thanks, Providence floor-maintenance guys) and whether PG Khadeen Carrington stays hot or goes back to crapping the bed like he has at times this year.

In the Big East tourney, look for them to beat Butler and then play Villanova tough like they usually do (including a one-point OT loss without Rodriguez last week), but ultimately fall, and land an 8 or 9 seed in the NCAA.

/they're my team because a relative is on the coaching staff; I have no personal ties there, and have only set foot on campus a couple of times to visit said relative

Is there a list for 'most likely to win, will have championship vacated in 5 years when the NCAA gets its collective thumb out of its butt"?

P.S. In related news, I have it on good authority that J.P. Macura is the dirtiest player in the Big East. I'm still amazed that he doesn't play for Duke.

Hey, Cornell just has to win 8 (maybe 9) straight and they're champs.

If 28-win, #7 Michigan is on the list even after winning the Big Ten tournament then your "needs to win a crappy league championship just to get to the tournament" team is on there, too.

Damn, I didn't realize it was alphabetical. I just did Ctrl+F "Manhattan" and was coming here to brag about being in the top half.

There's not any really great team this year.  I think we could finally see a 16-1 upset.  A 15-2 seems very likely, and I think at least one 14-3 will happen.

2018-03-06 01:52:37 PM
Of course my team is on the list.  When was the last time a team from the Big Sky conference was a threat in the NCAA Tournament?  The one time my alma mater made it, we had to later vacate due to NCAA violations.

Curious to see if Arizona State makes it, period.  Lost 4 of last 5 and to weak to average teams. they have the road wins at Xavier and I think Kansas but that was months ago.  They went from I think undefeated at I think #2 ranking to a spectacular - not collapse - but, "what the hell?"

I saw Arizona live I think 3 times this season.  they're interesting because of the alleged scandal with Sean Miller, but curiously, the school completely supports him.  and their entire starting 5, poss 6, are all gone.  Ayton, Trier, Alkins, and Ristic are all NBA talent but PJC is a graduating senior.

Ayton is a top  3 pick - he's just a monster.  He needs to add some weight at the NBA level but he can do it all.  reminds me of a Dirk Nowitzki.  Good paint player but can also drain it from outside, and great passer.  Ristic I think is a possible first rounder.  Trier and Alkins will end up on rosters but I think are not NBA starters.

If KU gets to the Sweet 16 I'll be pleasantly surprised. It's been a fun year, given the ups and downs, but there's simply no experienced depth. A 7-man rotation is going to have trouble in this day and age, especially one that can't rebound.

Meh, my team has made one NCAA Tourney appearance ever, back in 1997, and that was Division II. As best I can tell, we're now Division I, and have even worse chances.
