Tubby is a nice guy. He is a classy guy. He is a milquetoast coach. He lacks the ability to stoke a fire.

It's called negotiations, Tubby.  If anything, staying with an institution that isn't going to give you want you want and not looking at options is quitting.

When Smith replied, "yes, sir," his father said: "'Well, you can't come home. Your bed's been taken. ... But you can join the Army.'"

if you're father's response to you wanting to quit is to sell furniture and tell you to go into a killzone, he's a pretty farked up individual

Tubby should be running in-game strategy for some head coach who is great at recruiting and inspiring kids.  Of course, that will never happen unfortunately

Tubby needs to worry about not destroying a proud Memphis basketball program and getting out of perennial mediocrity first.

/Technically Josh Pastner started that trend, but Tubby picked it up from him and ran with it.

It's not really a fair comparison, the number of schools for a 66 year old coach, and the number of schools for a college athlete with four years of eligibility.

I bet former Georgia guard G.G. Smith would have appreciated his coach sticking around rather than following the money.

Tubby is a good dude. I'll always remember him hanging out with our student section before his Tulsa team played us (Bradley), because we were making so much more noise in the pre-game build than the Tulsa kids made during the actual games.
