The jist of it is that he came on national television and talked about how he was not going to honor the grand jury subpoena by Mueller. They kind of went around in circles, but Katy was trying to steadily figure out who advised him to do this. He said that it was his own idea and that his lawyer was probably going to drop him. He also talked about how he doesn't think he's going to go to jail, et cetera. He just seemed like he was super entitled and saw no reason to cooperate with a grand jury because "he did nothing wrong".

Also, to clarify, Sam claimed that they wanted his e-mail communications with Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, and various others going back to November 1, 2015 (I think).

It's possible.  The little that I did hear sounded a lot like someone who had slipped into full-on panic attack mode, though.  Like when the brain shuts off, you get tunnel vision, and the ground feels like it is going to swallow you up.  I've been there, so that's what I heard.  I could be wrong, of course.

Not really. He's forcing them to take more physical action against him, holding himself up as a martyr who stood up to the Deep State and probably will have lots of cameras on him when they finally arrest him, with Project Veritas editing the video.

It also is a very public act that helps undermine the legitimacy of the investigation and the entire judicial system, something conservatives have been trying to do for decades with their "activist judges" angle.

If he is indeed guilty of something connected to the investigation this is probably a way to make that little fact invisible to Republicans and score some huge points.

He said he didn't want to turn over his emails with Stone and Bannon, but is too stupid to realize Mueller already has them from a warrant and only sent the subpoena to see what he doesn't turn over.

I play online a lot, with Atletico.  I've noticed over the past year and a half the amount of kids playing with Arsenal has gone downhill, while Man City has gone up considerably.

I've also noticed whenever someone has Man City, you can bank they're never going to take the finger off the sprint button, and do every skill move they know.  I usually set my guys up to sit deep and counterattack and boom - easy points.

I play conservative and let the best 1 or 2 players of any team I have out run/muscle the other teams mid-fielders. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm ok at the game. Not great though.

Well, he's not going to change the hearts and minds of anyone who actually has either a heart or a mind.

That's not the point of such an exercise. He's now got a platform to reach a specific audience and is playing to that audience.

Something like 5% of colonists actually wanted to break away from the crown, at least at first. It changed as people left for Canada or had family members suffer during the war to keep the Redcoats supplied.

Fewer than 5% of Russians supported the Communist Revolution after the Tsar was overthrown by his extended family.

We have a good 30% of the electorate still supporting Trump, many of whom are fine with Russian interference if it benefits their own political agenda, and they are getting hit with both the Mueller investigation and the backlash against the NRA.

Their Brownshirt antics were stopped last year because people refused to be intimidated and marched together against them instead of letting the Alt Right pick them off one by one. And it became clear real quick that just being affiliated with such nonsense meant no career, no higher education and no future so long as they maintained their hateful ideology.

But those 30% are still there and will always be there and will always feel that the system is shutting them out, is targeting them and that they have no future within the current framework. And while many of us will sit here and say "Good, you can rejoin society once you grow up" 30% of the electorate is still a huge number of potential dissidents. Far more than has been needed before to topple governments.

And that, I believe, is this guy's purpose. To set himself up to be one more brick in the wall between Trumpers and everyone else while muddying the water.

And even if it is not his intended goal that is how others will use him, a difference so slim so as to be none. The Trump administration is stupid but they are supported by some very smart people who want to see us splintered into a feudalistic patchwork of corporate or family domains.

Even some people who don't want that are advocates for the practical mechanisms of its establishment, such as having companies benefit their local communities through intense charity. My business partner is opposed to the government doing anything like subsidised housing, free healthcare for all comers, food banks etc. But he wants companies to assume that, since business entities wind up with all the wealth anyway. Put in a free clinic. Provide hundreds of subsidized housing units for the working poor who can't afford rent. Provide no-questions-asked free cafeterias so everyone can eat. Give money to schools so teachers don't spend their own money on supplied. Start your own schools locally so you can make sure their salaries are good and can't be screwed around with by politicians looking to screw over the people to benefit a handful of the idle rich.

And I get where he's coming from, but when you have a bunch of communities where everything is provided by a single large patron, what use is the government? Great, you have won the hearts and minds of people and demonstrated that a successful business does not have to be predatory. Where does that lead? Corporate feudalism, is what I see. Fragmentation of the body politic as loyalty to the local benefactor becomes the ticket to success out of the subsidized class.

He doesn't see it that way. He sees it as an example to his fellow Republicans of how a business should be run. He's got a huge heart but he will never vote for a candidate that won't try to separate the government from social support. And it's frustrating because he and others who think like him are diametrically opposed to modern conservatism on a moral level but embrace the agents of neofeudalism anyway.

I never know whether to point this out on Fark or not, because sometimes I do, the person knows it and I feel like the doofus because it basically was a joke I didn't get. Still, I'll do it this time:

That commentary isn't from the game. That's overlaid from a crazy goal Messi scored for Barcelona against Getafe in 2007. Maybe the best goal of the 2000s. Also, that commentary isn't in Spanish and isn't from a Latin American commentator. It's in Catalan, the language of the Catalonia region near Barcelona, which is ... well ... it's either in northeastern, or northeast of, Spain, depending on how independent you feel like it is at the moment.

Gol Messi vs Getafe narrat per Puyal - Full HD (1080p)
Youtube sGteJAB-OGA

The fun part is, "i més" in Catalan means "and more." So by saying "Messi, Messi, Messi," it can be interpreted as saying his name, or as saying, "And more, and more, and more, and more," which also works. When he's switching to "i tot i més" as he does at one point, he's saying "and even more, and even more, and even more."

It's damn near play-by-play poetry, paired with an goal where Messi basically dribbled around every single one of the 200,000 people living in the Getafe region in the process of scoring.

Granted, that goal in the game looks a lot like the goal he scored in reality. But take my word for it; the commentary was from the goal in reality, not the game.
