This may be the only time that I would want to see the US Government make its own record label.

They covered his story on American Greed, and frankly, the charges they got him on are pretty ticky-tacky, and have nothing to do what the public hates him for.

It just shows they went after him for his publicity, and now going after that album is for further publicity.

Of all the things today.  This certainly is one of them.

Can't we just feed Shkreli through a wood-chipper instead?

I think I'll have a listen to the Enter The Wu-Tang 36 Chambers album this afternoon over some tea and crumpets.

Are we talking about something other than securities fraud?

Seeing this asshole actually face some consequences has re-instilled some faith in our justice system.  It gives me hope that all the Trump administration stooges will get their given time.

It is probably a mediocre album.  I haven't kept much track of what they have been up to since the mid-2000s, and I apparently haven't missed much when I tried some of their recent albums the other day when I was in the mood for some hip hop.
Now the newer Tribe Called Quest album?  Those guys never lost it.

He got charged for securities fraud on an hedge fund is only tenuously related to the gross inethics of the pharma company he started.  If it were not for that drawing of public and legal attention, his financial crimes would likely never have been exposed.  Yes, that is the shiatty state of the world today.

Shkreli's not one of them. His parents are nobodies and he has a funny last name.

Looks like part of a word jumble puzzle.

"Shkreli's lawyer Ben Brafman has previously said that forfeiture wsa "not an appropriate remedy" because none of Shkreli's investors lost money. "

Yeah he wasn't a billionaire or CEO of a billion dollar corporation. If you want to play rich people games you better have enough money to pay for rich people problems like the government coming after you for tenuous stuff. It also helps if you keep your mouth shut like CEOs of billion dollar corporations who can rape the country 3 ways from Sunday so long as they don't brag about it.

Heather Bresch did the same thing with Epi Pens and while there was "backlash" she's still CEO and rolled in a good $14 million in income last year. She was also named one of Forbes most power women as a side prize.

He ran a pyramid scheme.  You don't get commit securities fraud and then cover your investors losses with legitimate money and call it good - you still did the fraud.

She is also the daughter of Senator Joe Manchin, who sucked up to the Keebler Klansman during his confirmation hearing.

That's a good question.  If he wants to endear himself to the public why not make that album public. Post Once Upon a Time in Shaolin and all might be forgiven.
Really, I bet it sucks and they are using that same material now. It's a faux-platinum demo tape.

That all depends on whether or not he defrauded men richer and whiter than himself. This isn't a nation of laws, this is America.

I still can't understand how a collection of songs that no one has heard can be worth two million dollars.  Usually when a collection of songs from a well know but dead artist are discovered it's usually demos and crap no good enough to publish.
If the music is so good, why didn't Wu Tang release it?

That's kind of what I'm getting. Funny as it is, Wu realizes a sizeable demographic are rich white poseurs. They throw out a hook and get Shkreli for 2M for an album of untold singularity that only the most dedicated idiot could want.

Yeah, that he broke several laws has nothing to do with it.
It doesn't matter that no one lost money on his scams.
All that means is he got lucky.

This. If the album is ever made publicly available (royalties going to the US government), I doubt it will be acclaimed as their best work. The moral equivalent of a band's showing up at some rich idiot's birthday party and banging out the three songs of theirs everybody knows by heart (an important source of income for many bands). Give the customer what he thinks he wants, it's not as if he'd know good music if it kicked him in the balls anyway.

I wonder how much it'll go for at government auction.  Probably more than $100,000.  No way I'm paying that much for it.

But if I did get it, I'd rip the CD, put it all online, and mail the disk to a museum.

He basically neglected to dot his I's and cross his T's.    He did nothing that everybody on Wall Street doesn't do, daily.    The more serious charges against him were laughed out of the courtroom.
