Unless the record has nothing whatsoever to do with their age, it's kinda cheating.

It's like that woman this year who got into the Olympics by only going to under-attended skiing events until eventually she defaulted into a qualification.

But if you told me some 99 year old is swimming faster than Michael Phelps... now I'm interested.

All you'd have to do is be lucky enough to not have too much plaque in your arteries, not have too many joints completely destroyed by arthritis, and enough of your brain left not to go off in a random direction, and you too could set an age group record for something at that age. The number of people who are healthy enough to do anything more difficult than get out of bed starts becoming quite small at 100 years of age.
