Hey, everyone should be able to pursue their NFL dreams. So why not? I could be a long snapper in the league.

Long snappers are like kickers, or like any position on special teams -- no one thinks they need a good one until they get a bad one.

I've never been to the combine.

/And I'm more thick than long.

Google "nfl long snap mistakes" to see why.

Games take on a decidedly Benny Hill vibe when a long snapper goes down.

That website's formatting sucks on chrome on my computer . Maybe it works good on mobile or its built to as a huge FU to anyone not using edge or something

To snap the ball while interested teams watch, one assumes.

/why do they call him the bullet dodger?

...because he dodges bullets, Abby.

Ryan Pontbriand approves.

So that the scouts could see punters and kickers in a more game simulated environment.

They should bring in a few more next year. After 200 snaps, I'm sure the kid's legs and shoulders are wrecked.

Kinda like those extra-inning baseball games when the short stop ends up pitching. At least in football you can go for the first down or two point conversion.

One of my favorite John Madden stories was when he was thinking about drafting Ray Guy. He really wanted the dude, but everybody knows you don't waste a first round pick on a punter. So, he asked his coaching staff who they wanted. (I'm paraphrasing this from memory, but the idea is there...)

He went to the defensive coaches, and they basically said "look, Coach, we know there's no way you'd do it, but the player who'd help us the most is Ray Guy. We'd be operating against offenses with awful field position, and it would make our job easier."

Then, he went to his offensive coaches, and they said "Coach, the player that would help us the most is Ray Guy. He'd free us up to be more aggressive, because an amazing punter can cover up a whole lot of mistakes. We know there's no way you'd do it, because nobody uses a first round pick on a punter, but that's our dream pick."

Ray Guy went on to earn three Super Bowl rings, and his bust is in Canton.

Three phases to the game.

I DNRFTA but I'm guess because they needed someone to long snap for other players that are there like kickers and punters?

Long snappers do get drafted too you know, subby. They can play on the OL in a pinch too.

Yep

And now that Jerry Kramer is in as well, we can concentrate on Steve Tasker
