With Amazon Prime Now they will deliver booze in under two hours, in fact.

/Obviously.

I think it will be a matter of public opinion. They deliver booze, which other than obesity, is probably our greatest societal ill. Yet, they don't sell any form of tobacco.

The public seems to be pretty pro weed and trending further in that direction. So with more legalization, I don't see why amazon wouldn't dip their toes in.

Local dispensaries deliver on their own here, no need to involve a big box corporation.

Too much legal trouble. Let's say the Washington Post publishes something critical of Trump and Sessions decides Post = Bezos and Bezos = Amazon and decides to enforce the laws about dealing in controlled substances. Maybe seize all of Amazon as a criminal enterprise and throw the owners and operators in prison.

Marijuana needles are dangerous. If my friend Becky was still alive, she'd tell you.

It depends.  In California, delivery of marijuana typically requires that you are licensed in the city you are delivering to, and that's only if it's legal to deliver marijuana in that jurisdiction.  There are a lot of cities in California.

No need?  What does that have to do with anything?

Some people prefer to support local businesses wherever and whenever possible.

Amazon would sell anything and everything if they could make money from it I don't see why marijuana would be an exception.

They might of found a way to get me to sign up for Prime.

/though buying weed is often a "want it right now" type purchase.

Not criticing you, but Walmart and Amazon show that convenience and price will overcome that impulse for a large market share.
Your local dispensary has how many strains (Hoosier, so I have no clue)? Amazon will have all the ones people have heard of. And the specific edible that gets your rocks the offiest. And vape pens, bongs, wax paraphernalia, your favorite papers.
I do dream of the opportunity to support my local dispensary though. Shops should invest in staff that can curate in an appealing manner. A good bartender can talk me into beers I wouldn't otherwise consider.

No way Amazon sells pot before federal law is changed.

They probably already do. Ever seen a stupid high price in the results for a book?

Not only that but if your close with your grower usually they're always happy to tell you how they kept the plant throughout its life cycle so you can at least know it wasn't grown in a factory somewhere fed god knows what heavy metals and who knows what pesticides used on it just to increase yield volume and increase profits. Basically all the things you don't need to worry about from most mom and pop grows.

I guess I failed to make my point clearly.  The original question was: will Amazon sell pot?  Someone said there was no "need" for them to do so, because locals could do it.  My point was that need has nothing to do with whether or not they will sell weed.  Of course they will sell weed.  Because the only thing that matters to Amazon is profit.  Need has nothing to with it.

We can only hope that Bezos doesn't somehow buy a monopoly on the stuff, so that locals actually can compete with the big guys.  There will probably need to be legislation to protect boutique growers and sellers.

I doubt I'll live to see it.

Amazon is also a front for local mom and pops. The last few things i bought from them were not sold by amazon directly or amazon had a higher price

Perfect example. If you look at like grateful dead merchandise, you will see either Grateful Dead or Dye the Sky.

Dye the Sky is a husband and wife living in ME.
