I read that as "Mark Cuban" sandwich and was confused.

The bread looks good, I may try one for lunch tomorrow. It is Arby's, I know what to expect.

Do they even have a sandwich press set up for that or just wing it on a griddle with a pan?
Because you need extra hardware to do it right...or just put on the griddle and use muscle and some sort of heated iron.

I know Arby's got a lot of kicking around for their Gyro. But it was a nice fast food sandwich. Not great...but certainly better than any other late night drive through sandwich.

Arby's does not use proper gyro meat. Theirs is beef, where real gyro meat is a mix of beef and lamb.

They take their roast beef and throw something like "Cavender's greek seasoning" on it...and put in a flat bread with some yogurt sauce...that's basically yogurt with cavender's greek seasoning and some cucumber shreds. Fold it over with some tomato and cucumber and lettuce.
It's actually acceptable for a late drive through place.
I mean you're going to farken ARBY's so don't say "oh get a proper Gyro at the mom/pop greek place down the street with the drive through window that's open at 12:30 on a Saturday night "

Greek cadaver seasoning?

For those in the south..with a Publix Supermarket.

And know cuban sandwiches...and want to make them.
The bread is the key. You really have to fresh cuban bread to make a decent cuban sandwich.
And you need to press it...with buttering the outside and pressing it flat...either a sandwich press or two cast iron pans (one inverted) and both very hot...and towels to keep from frying your hands while pressing.

But Publix comes into play here. For those with a publix. Call ahead.
The day before and request some cuban bread. They'll make it fresh for you and it will be ready the next day. But you do need to call ahead at most publix that don't have it as a daily bread.

This stuff.
Mix with some yogurt and cucumber shreds you got tzatziki sauce.
Mix with some mayo and sour cream and parsley you got ranch dressing. (maybe a bit more garlic powder and onion powder).
Use it on fish and saute it..Or wrap the fish in foil with some veggies and white wine and bake with lemon.
Bake it on Chicken quarters with lemon slices on top...Greek roasted chicken.

Stuff is farken magic. ...MAGIC I say.

The Publix in my town actually can make the  Cubans themselves.  With a press and everything

/I guess that's cheating

I thought Cubans came from rafts.

Hey now, I've made some surprisingly decent meals on a Foreman. I lived in a condo and used to open the floor-to-ceiling window and grill. This bothered no one but the penthouse b*tch who sat on the board. So I improvised with a Foreman and judicious dashes of Liquid Smoke. Not bad if you slightly lower your expectations

A $6 Cuban sounds like something you get in an alley in Havana.

/The lifetime prescription to a $20,000 pill to control it is something you get in the U.S.

I have plenty of options for a late night gyro, none of them would work well to grab at a drive through. Eating a gyro in your car is not recomended!

For some reason I have four Cuban sandwich joints near my place. It's not like Cubans are rampant, I don't know any Cuban-Americans in the neighborhood.

/ Not complaining

...Been tempted to get an Arby's Cuban - we have an Arby's right across the street and I eat out one night a week.  Kinda glad I didn't.

/La Playa on Pawley's Island SC has a medianoche that's to die for
//Almost the same as a Cuban except for the bread

I'm in FL. There's a real Cuban restaurant owned and operated by actual Cuban-Americans three blocks from my place.  Why settle?

/now I want red bean soup

Hell, throw it on a cooked frozen pizza and it's awesome.

But people still freak out over MSG so recommending it always comes with the explanation, "No, MSG is not bad for you. There is no tested information to suggest that it is."
