Ah, yes, the hedging against violent mobs strategy.  I do need to do that, I'm just looking for a dip to buy into, and it's been a rough market lately.

The most believable scenario I can come up with is Trump is shaking people down for "contributions".

Not being afraid of the NRA consists of announcing you're going to implement lots of things the NRA opposes, take a late night meeting with a major NRA representative, have some Russian money deposited in a hidden fund of yours, then announce the next morning "My bad. No bans."

As a famous Russian once said...

I think it's simpler than that. You're giving Trump too much credit for forethought. Since he was elected, Trump has been trying to find all of the unilateral, dictator-style buttons he can push. What else can he do (or threaten to do) without approval from congress or the courts?

UVXY isn't investing, it's gambling.  It's not suitable for holding and has horrible decay.  That said, I wouldn't have minded having a piece of it when TSHTF recently. But hold it, no way.

A better than expected job report sent the stock market down. The stock market is doing down because they know these tariffs are good for the economy.

The stock market went down on the Jan jobs report

January's stronger-than-expected jobs report was unhelpful to an already worried stock market, closely followed trader Art Cashin told CNBC on Friday.
Wages saw their biggest jump since the end of the Great Recession in the Labor Department's Friday report, sending interest rates higher and thus impeding stocks.
Cashin, UBS director of floor operations at the New York Stock Exchange, said Friday's wage number "certainly spooked" traders.

Ah gotcha, you were referring you events from a month ago, thanks
