I don't understand why everyone complains about the ending of Dexter so much. He kills Trinity, returns home to find he's too late to save Rita, and then they never made any more seasons

It was perfect.

Not sure if the 2 different Bob Newhart shows are what you were thinking of.

I'm baffled by the complaint that the ending of Lost made no sense.  I understand the anger that so many loose ends went unexplained, but the overall resolution seemed pretty straight forward to me.

It's that the writers spent 5 years lying about what was actually going on after they panicked when fans immediately nailed it, and then papered it over with increasingly desperate crap.

It was adding major characters as late as the second-to-last episode. That's a bad sign.

I guessed they were in some type of Purgatory way back during the first or second season. Disappointed that I wasn't that far off.

That "Lost in three minutes on post it notes" explained the show to me so much better than watching the actual show did.

Now I think I might have to watch it all again with that knowledge.

I loved the last episode, especially the last couple scenes, but the last season was awful with the unnecessary misdirection of flash sideways storyline.

And I never had a problem with the loose ends, the more mystery the better. It was always clunky when they tried to explain some of the weird things on the island.

It's one thing is a thread never gets explained.

It's another when a thread is never understood.

I may not know what's going on, but the writers damned well better know what's going on. LOST never gave any evidence the writers had a backstory for anything; there was no world behind the scenes.

Lost would have been so much better if the writers had never read online comments.

There was a show that aired on CBS back in the late 90s called Now & Again- it was about a guy (played by John Goodman) who died in an accident on a subway platform who had his brain transplanted into an artificially created body "with the strength of Superman, the speed of Michael Jordan, and the grace of Fred Astaire" with the catch being that he wasn't allowed to contact his family or let anybody know that he's alive.

Cliffhanger ending was rather unsatisfying.

Battlestar Gallactica totally screwed the pooch. Everything from "All Along the Watchtower" on was terrible. The Cylons had a plan, none of the showrunners did.

That show rocked. I remember it aired around the same time as some show called "Now & Then" it something like that. I blame its cancellation on that.

Good pilot episode, tho.

I remember it from the first run and got the box set for $5 in the DVD bin at walmart about 10 years ago. I would love to see an actual remake of that and/or Babylon 5.

Great show, still one of my favorites of all-time, but there was too much Deus Ex Machina in the finale.  Walter White, a known public menace in his town, was able to somehow sneak ricin powder into the exact pouch of Stevia that Lydia would use and no one noticed him there and she couldn't tell it had been tampered with.  He then sets up a ludicrous automatic machine gun mount in the trunk of a car that he somehow gets lucky enough to park at the exact location necessary to shoot dead almost all the bad guys.  He also somehow was able to sneak into his family's heavily-watched home to have a last meeting with his wife.
For a show that was so rooted in reality and no magical, mystical or supernatural shiat, having all these miraculous things happen in what was otherwise a really great ending really soured it for me.

I think they would have to do it with more cast members. The idea of having the same people acting as pilots, ground troops, special forces, and snipers seems like a stretch. I know Marine pilots are trained as ground troops, but they are not used as such. There are specialists for that sort of thing.
